Life is something isn't it. Not really sure what/why this forum exists, it's obviously a place of some intelligence at least from what I've read. Then I start reading posts from an old dear friend. Someone who is a genuine, fun loving and at times very naive. His nickname here is Orion. Then I read posts from a character named Stryfe. Why? Who? Who cares? You've persued him for over 10 years? He was acting in "character" having fun so to speak but with a flare. It's obviously grown above and beyond that. The man has a family, you talk about taking his wife from him. You know about his medical condition, yet you continue to pour salt in his wound. It's obvious that it has affected him. In a nutshell, what I'm asking as a friend of Orion's is to stop and let sleeping dogs lay. When I read your posts regarding the WWIV days etc... I realized how pathetic this whole ordeal really is. So, post an apology move on...
Why am I making such a simple request and you may laugh?? Because we are adults. The world is full of enough garbage. When you make an effort to communicate via the web, email etc.. It stems from a factor of some percieved basis of intelligence. So, do the intelligent and right thing and drop this.
A history about me in a nutshell. I've been around during the "WWIV" days etc... I ran a BBS for years. I was the "COOL" guy in high school, the "MACHO" guy in college and so on. However, I've turned to God and thank Him for all that I have. I have a wonderful family and a reality that is stable. So this is why my post is non threatening or rude. I won't ever be rude, or ignorant but Stryfe show us all that you have some form of decency and respect for life.

Bill that is a lie, I have plenty of local friends here and I forwarded some links to this board to them. They happen to have gotten on here to defend me. I also have friends out of state as well.
Do not think that IWETHEY and K5 are my only places that I have/had friends at. I have friends in Cyberspace and Realspace as well.
You once were a very good friend to me, now you are not a friend due to your own choosing. You cannot accept me for the way that I am, or for the way that I behave. Face facts, you just plain gave up on me like everyone else here, in my darkest hour when the depression took control of my life. Unless, you can forgive me and become my friend again, as I am also a very forgiving person. I'm assuming this ip range didn't show up as a lurker for any length of time prior to this... Two other times; same zip code, same first two octets. One drive-by, and then one sojourn on the 16th of November spelunking through the forums and reading random posts (by fiddling the URL, not by actually following links, apparently). However, in most cases the access times were spaced quickly together (0 seconds, 1 second, etc) in a sustained fashion, leading me to believe it was access simply for the sake of deliberately logging access. Pretty much random, with no time spent actually reading. Regards,

No, it's Norm - the style is so similar that I recognize it instantly.
Norm actually sent me a vaguely threatening email, one in which he advised me to "not trust" some of you, etc. etc. with quoted mail suspicious of my motives two years ago when my former GF finally flipped out for good and I was close to the street. It was a rather nasty thing to do - his hostility is boundless. If I get any more mail from him, I'll get my ISP and the police involved because I think he's deranged.
This is what happens when you blow the lid off a narcissist - they completely flip out - I've seen it before.

I have my doubts.
I'm very good at spotting aliases... this one doesn't feel like Norm for some reason.
Formatting is different, but that's easy to change. What's harder to change is phraseology, syntax, etc. This one doesn't read the same as Norm's stuff.

It doesn't *feel* like Norm.
Too coherent and he's been more and more thrashy lately. This writing is more controlled (and contrived).
OTOH, the Stryfe thing is overblown I think. "Stryfe" hasn't posted in over a week - only has 6 posts - 5 in one day and one 2 days later.
So why is Norm so obsessed with this "person" who apparently just yanked his chain for a day and moved on? He has mentioned that Stryfe is bothering him in something like 10 posts (and a couple more times talking about comics back in July). Sympathy play? Utter derangement?
I can't completely discount the idea that someone is in fact screwing with him (or did briefly) but with all the noise he's generated on his own its hard to sort it out. Classic cry wolf scenario.
Confusing.
I am out of the country for the duration of the Bush administration.

I'll be posting the logs soon.
The most telling one:
1) Norm attempts to log on from his DSL account (this was when he was getting the forumsDown page) at 7:30 am (CST); he had been trying for a few days
2) 45 minutes later Stryfe logs on from the dial-up account
3) Stryfe posts #65114: [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=65114|Hey Norm/Orion/Cable]
4) 5 minutes later Norm tries logging on 10 more times over about 15 minutes
5) At some point during #4 time Norm posts on Kuro5hin about the forums being down: [link|http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/11/26/92313/573|http://www.kuro5hin....2/11/26/92313/573]
My interpretation:
After several attempts Norm began to wonder about his inability to log in, tried his dial-up account with Stryfe and succeeded, then tried his DSL account again multiple times in frustration. Usually he is somewhat careful not to mingle the two (other than the blatantly obvious back-and-forth between himselves at 2:30am: [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=64686|Oh yes I can!]); this time I think he erroneously believed that the logs wouldn't show the commingling since he was getting the forumsDown page.

I am playing Devil's advocate here. Let's see if other explanations are possible... Other explanations are possible, although not probable. Occam's Razor suggests that Norm is trolling, not that there is a world-wide cabal of stalkers hell-bent on terrorizing him. Apparently you cannot provie the hard evidence to show it is a high probability that I was Stryfe. In fact, I was not Stryfe. Just ask the owner of the Apple Doomsday Clock more on this, Stryfe messed with him too and like you guys, Stryfe thought that his account was really me.

Go ahead and contact the admin there, MGabrys. Ask him about the email and posts that Stryfe has sent him. Stryfe once called me his "Mirror Foe" whatever that means. I think it means that he is trying to copy my posting style to make people believe that it is me, and not him or someone else. Stryfe also supposidly cracked into the Mackido Yahoo Club founder account and deleted the club and blamed it on a different account. So he is messing with other people as well.

"Life is somehting isn't it." Characteristic omission of a comma. Run-ons are Norm's most basic verbal fingerprint.

Norm can't live with having been busted at his game. Yes, this post is different - his hostility has for the moment been exhausted. He now knows how badly he fucked up, because Box and I would be the last to abandon him.
His new aliases are always capitalized, and they always sound like role-player names.
As for different IPs, well, he has a brother and other friends in the area. I doubt any of them know what he is doing here.

Of course any post referring to norm posted from an id on the new users list is very highly suspect.
I've noticed there are a *lot* of ids with no posts in the new user list. Makes me wonder if norm is stocking up.

as it is not me. You said so yourself. It just does not read as me. The other ones were made to look like I did it, but they messed it up and actually spelled a lot better than I do. The IPs will tell the whole story that I did not do it, but one of my local enemies did do it. Since you did say the IP was local, right? Same area code or whatever? Unless someone dialed long diatance just to make it look like it came from my area? What phone number did they use to make the call? Or was it a DSL or Cable modem connection? You have all the pieces Scott, help me out by putting them together and soulve this mystery so I don't get blamed for it again. I am just a Red Herring here, someone to blame for all of the misery that happens on this forum and on K5.
I even had a spoofer use direcTV2048 on my Ezboard. But that was delt with by deleting the posts. So which one of you is directTV2048, the one I did not delete the posts of that someone else spoofed of? Notice the two T's. The directTV2048 took Cable and used DirecTV instead as DirecTV competes with Cable, and then took half of 4096 to get 2048, but spelled [link|http://www.directv.com|DirecTV] as DirectTV. I let that person stay on the Ezboard despite my rules to delete the posts of spoofers and possibly ban them. They logged in as directTV2048 before I could post the rules, so I let it slide with a friendly warning.
See, I know how to moderate. I can create a good alternative to IWETHEY and prevent the fires and put the fires out.

He is a long time friend of mine, he ran a BBS I was on, and someone did the same thing to me on his BBS that they were doing here as Stryfe.
Asmodeus is a real person, go ahead and email him and get his phone number and talk to him. Ask him about my history, and the way people always try to pick on me like Stryfe does. He knew the phone numbers of the people calling his BBS and doing that to me, and he defended me way back as far as 1988 when he ran Genesis as his BBS software. Back when I was Normad or Nikademus, before I changed my handle to Cable. Yes someone did spoof me as Nikademus, and someone spoofed me on EzIWETHEY as Nick_Demus, but I did not want to admit to being Nikademus before, because of the BBS past, and how easily you guys seem to get confused over things.
Do I have to change my handle again to keep the jerks guessing? Or can I keep it as Orion, and get you guys to protect me?

Lets pretend for a second that all these newly created IDs that traverse directly to the exact point of attack are actually other people who have it in for you somehow.
Couple questions - (They are rhetorical)
1) How did they find this place? (Answer - you brought them here - because otherwise IWETHEY is pretty much its own little Shangri La on the web - we don't have outsiders stumbling in on a regular basis).
2) Are these people really your friends? Because they (mostly) act like assholes or at least fairly transparent shills. (Example - "Hey what is this iwethey thing - I just went there and all I saw were a bunch of guys bashing this orion guy"). If thats all they saw then they're wearing some pretty specific filters because you are a teeny tiny part of the conversation here.
3) Why do you - a relatively insignificant worker bee, who by his own admission has been toiling in obscurity in Microsoft's dungeon, deserve such a large and colorful cast of enemies? Because frankly, I can't see spending the effort on being your enemy. There's no upside in it for me.
Anyhow, I'd like it a lot if you would stop dragging in riff raff and maybe just go away.
Because you have single handedly lowered the signal to noise ratio significantly and are beginning to lower my enjoyment of the board.

I am a trouble magnet. Where I go, trouble follows. So I must be better off dead then. But I cannot die, as I no longer wish to kill myself, so it had better be of natrual causes like cancer, heart attacks, etc, or someone like a stalker stabbing or shooting me to death. But then the Chaos doesn't end with my death, it continues someplace else.

The same persona, when I blocked the Japan proxy server you were using, slipped up and used YOUR DSL gateway (the same one you were using when you were getting the "forumsDown" page) when it hit the "notPermitted" page. Apparently your gateway screws up when it gets a "page has moved" redirect and hits things directly. And no one else uses that particular gateway to post here.
Norm, you are NOT FOOLING ANYONE. I understand that you have invested a lot of time pretending all of this stuff, and it's not much fun to find out that no one was fooled... but the game is over. Please. All you are doing is eroding what little trust we have left for you. Yes, it's hard to admit to yourself that you were the one doing all of that... but you don't need those personas any more.
Just post as yourself. You don't need the negative attention the other personas get.
