Welcome to IWETHEY!

New On "compassion" and getting older...
Warshing machine,
You write:
"Republicans will now know that US citizens suffer no healthcare, low wages, poor housing etc. but not enact any policy to do anything about it. They are compassionate but not caring."
You should have added to it "that were a result of 8 years of democratic compassion in the executive branch..." to your ignorant diatribe... If I remember correctly (and I do) Clinton ran his initial campaign on healthcare reform and wages, etc... He had an all democratic congress for the first two years... Where was all the "compassion" we should have had enacted then? Huh? WTF are they telling you brits anyway. Does the brainwashing/thinkspeak spread beyond our shores? Maybe I'm just getting older but I'm experiencing the same deja vu I had 1, 5, 9, 13, 17,etc... years ago...

Want some real (audio) fun? Check out [link|http://www.pbs.org/30secondcandidate/from_idea_to_ad/watch2.html|http://www.pbs.org/.../watch2.html] . If you are on a Linux box, you can download real player from [link|http://scopes.real.com/real/player/unix/unix.html?src=rpbform|http://scopes.real....?src=rpbform] which has Eisenhower's campaign. Be sure to check out what the key issues were in 1950... It's deja vu all over again... Democrats, Republicans, Tories, Whigs... They are all politicians and would never dream of doing anything resembling the right thing as they wouldn't get re-elected... :-> The dirty truth about our democracy is that we are a democracy and all of the social ills here are our (we the voting people's) fault... It's just so much more convenient to blame someone else...
Just a few thoughts,

Screamer
