Well, there's good, and there's bad, and there's ugly.
The good:
I have a job.
I have a paying, very secure job.
My wife and I are getting along great.
We're finally getting out from underneath our debt load, incurred due to repeated unemployment and other mishaps.
I have a nice laptop.
Our kitty is in good shape. He's actually 20 pounds, but he's still in pretty good shape.
Siebel is going to release a version of their software that runs under a Sun Java client instead of the Microsoft decaffinated java.
I'm holding my weight steady at 200 (from 250), Susan has hit 130, and is aiming for 120. This down from a high of 230 about a year ago.
Debian is nice.
Finally got to play 3rd edition D&D as a player, instead of a DM, in a PBEM game. It's going nicely.
The bad:
Bonus structure is changing. No more $2k/quarter bonuses without really putting in some extra effort.
Housing prices haven't dropped up here despite everybody being out of work.
I'm rolling out Office XP via Active Directory Group Policy.
I'm WRITING the "What's New" documentation for the aformentioned Office XP rollout.
Serious burnout in my distance learning classes.
Bush still President.
Grandfather having severe blood pressure issues.
The ugly:
Student loans are coming due. This includes my wife's $70k student loans from the master's degree that is basically worthless due to changes in state certification law.
Mom called last night, totally freaked out by Ashcroft's latest attempt to threaten the U.S. citizen into giving up his civil rights. Offered to buy me a gas mask since I work in downtown Seattle. I swear, she's going paranoid schitzo on me - thank you Mr. Ashcroft.
