Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Arrrrrgggggghhhhhh!
It's been raining, often rather hard, since Tuesday morning. Fortunately, I went up on the roof and repaired some minor shingle damage from the high winds on Monday.

Wednesday evening I went out and started the car - NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS!

There were lulls today, so I was able to drive down to Burbank and got a repair manual. Sure enough, a square box marked "Solid State". It's about a $6 part, so of course they want $125 for it - but no-one has one - special order. It's raining NOW and I have a "must go" install in the morning.

Sawed the old one up for the connector. Windshield Wipers are now controlled by a switch from an old PC power supply. Just one speed, but that's the only speed I ever used anyway.

So, how am I? Wet and overworked, and waaaaaay behind schedule, but otherwise just fine.

New RainX

It's a windshield treatment, wipe on. Reduces surface tension. At\r\nhighway speeds (well, highway speeds other than in LA), the rain just\r\nbeads and is swept off your windshield in the slipstream. The effect's\r\npretty good above 30-35 MPH even, so you can get by in a pinch. Even\r\nstanding still, rain tends to glide off rather than stick, so you can\r\nsee out.

\r\n\r\n

The wipers on my truck ('91 Toyota Xtra Cab) have a tendency to lose\r\nadhesion to the windshield at 60+ MPH, so this actually gives me better\r\nresults than blades. Highly recommended.
