Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Fine, fine.
Porting 2M loc to Linux using yet another compiler (intel's, to get around exception handling bugs in gcc 2.95.X). So far I'm doing ok with the port... I have 4 compiler bugs logged as issues with Intel support, and a 5th on the way as soon as I create a manageable test case. :-P

I had the system running last night... 53% of the validation tests passed (each test consists of multiple, multiple unit tests). gcc 2.95.X only made it to 44%. Once that's done we do a bake-off against Solaris and NT.

All in all I'm impressed with the Intel compiler. Lots of nice built-in warnings that are catching things other compilers didn't.

Anyway, the above describes the last 1.5 months to varying degrees of accuracy. :-)

I forgot to add: Duncan's writing a web page for himself now (and a portal site as well). So when it's done he can update people directly. ;-)
Regards,

-scott anderson

Slashdot [link|http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/02/13/1615214&mode=nested&tid=156|reporting] on a LinuxJournal article by some of the Intel compiler team.
