used to own a alfa (cheap sedan) threw fiat parts
at because they were cheaper. The car was easy to work on and being ancient already when I got it, worked on it a lot. A little duct tape and baling wire, thing is probably still running.

Re: The only Fiat owner I knew used to say that the only...
They weren't comfy, or quiet...they were cheap and fuel efficient..but these were not exactly what us USians were looking for in the mid/late 70s post oil crisis.
I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.

These days, in Europe...
...Fiat/Alfa quality is better than that of GM or Ford cars.
|
|
Also...
...There isn't a domestic US car on the market today that looks as good as the 159:

Well, one of 'em is a bit fragile looking . . .
. . and the other one is too brutish. I'd prefer something in between if you don't mind.
|
|
I'd like to be in between them, too

Good to hear. I hope they bring the 500 here.
|

The 500 Abarth looks like a hoot to drive.

You mean they've finally dumped Magneti Marelli?
Sheesh, that stuff was so bad (back in the '60s) that Alfa switched to Lucas Electric - now that has to be bad! Yes, I've had plenty of experience with Lucas Electric - back in the same era.

Guess I'll have to dredge up sometime, my little visit
to Lucas HQ in London (picking up a 'touring package' of Lucas spares for the Sprite.)
Their HQ == very def'n of Posh; entry area reminded me of the luxo red-womb of the Citroën Pallas, some years later. Oh and: never had to open that emergency kit, all around Euro and back. Prince of Darkness, Indeed.. at least Vincent went with Miller lighting electrics (though, alas -- Lucas magneto.) |
