Nah. Some do, some don't

My wife and I are both rather good cooks. She's more traditional, as in the way her mother used to do it. I tend to experiment more. Depending on what we are making, we sometimes even cooperate, but not very often. I do a lot of the prep work for her if I'm around.
We have friends who are like Andrew described.
Other friends just regard food as fuel and don't really care if it was nicely prepared or dumped from a can.
It's hard to generalize.
