Why shouldn't anyone with a blog enjoy the protections we afford the press? They're not "real" press? So now there is some standard?

For centuries freedom of the press only applied to those who owned the press. Now we all have access. Look at Drudge. Came out of nowhere, now there's no one trying to claim he's not press.

If you're going to establish standards for who counts as press, and who gets those protections, you better put a lot of thought into unintended consequences.
