New Re: Please point me to something...
Either the lawmakers weren't paying attention to what went into the act or they else the Prez violated the spirit of the act. I think he did both.

"As a start, lawmakers are revisiting a last-minute provision added to last year's reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act at the request of the Justice Department. It gives the president authority to replace a US attorney without going back to the Senate for confirmation. At the time, no lawmaker noticed."

"REP. DARRELL ISSA: Well, I certainly can explain that this kind of gamesmanship was not the intent under the Patriot Act that gave certain emergency powers."

New So now ppl in Washington can't read
My confidence is even more inspired now.

Let's go back to simpler times...when people voted for something before they voted against it :-/

New Re: So now ppl in Washington can't read
The post wasn't meant to inspire.

Being complicit is definitely not equal to committing the crime, as your first post seemed to imply.

The president all his men need to be held accountable, even if only politically.

Congress definitely needs to be held accountable for their negligence. I hold more responsible, because they should known better after the way the first patroit act was enacted.

Any congressman who is not going fight to uphold their role in this democracy deserves to be voted out of office.
