. . Big Tujunga Canyon, Angeles Crest Hightway (clearly marked junction with the 210 Foothill Freeway in La Cañada/Flintridge) and San Grabriel Canyon from Azusa but that last one has been washed out for many years and too expensive to repair.
It climbs steeply up to the Mount Wilson road where the observatories are and continues on to Wrightwood in San Bernadeno county following the crests of the mountains pretty much all the way. Very up, down and twisty the whole way.
From the Mount Wilson observatory grounds (I used to know where there was a hole in the fence) you can look practically straight down on Pasadena, and there was a spot I used to go where you could see well over 1000 square miles of city lights.
