Why should the guns have been locked?

Shot grandfather with .22 then stole police revolver. So if revolver is locked up, all he needed to do was steal key first. Since this looks like a planned event, what's to prevent 16yo from stabbing grandfather to get key if guns are locked. Ya lock up the guns to prevent young kids from accidentally shooting themselves. WOn't stop a older teen or another adult for gaining access to them. Also, put this enormity of the event into perspective. Total population of the city is ~5000. That's .2% of the population. In the TC metro that would be the same as killing 6000 or 38500 in NYC. Even OBL didn't hit that rate. Give the anti gun crap a break. Pray for/tink about/feel for the entire community involved. Yeah, it's "local" (~200mi north), and no, I don't know anyone involved. A good friend will come and bail you out of jail ... but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"
