Newcastle Brown Ale ("broon", "dog") is far too fizzy for me, and is in any case not a session beer; the strength means that you'll be fighting with the locals after the fourth. Much better taken with a nice meal, like a good steak and kidney pie with chips and mushy peas. For a real challenge, Weston's Old Rosie Scrumpy. At 7.3%, it's not hard to understand why one can "Go west with Rosie".
Apparently a dead rat in the barrel improves the flavour...
