For something that's domestic (kinda-sorta, to us Yanks), go for Shiner Bock. It's produced in Shiner, Texas, but last time I looked, the closest place I could get it is a 6-hour drive to the middle of Missouri.
Others here have recommended Czechvar, and I second this recommendation. I've been trying some different beers lately, and this one stands out.
Also, while I was in NYC something like 2 years ago, I went to a place in Tribeca or Soho called the Belgian Beer Bar. I had 3 or 4 Belgian Beers there, and while I can't remember the names of any of them, they were all superb. I'll try to track down my cousin, who lives in NYC, later today on AIM to see if I can resurrect those memories a bit more...
