Beer suggestions?
The guy who makes the decisions at my favorite watering hole has asked me if I'd like anything added to the beer list. The couple I want are easy to get. Let's give him a challenge. Peter?

Bottled Guinness?
Not a chance am I drinking that. It's sump oil in verdigris, or something.
Newcastle Brown Ale ("broon", "dog") is far too fizzy for me, and is in any case not a session beer; the strength means that you'll be fighting with the locals after the fourth. Much better taken with a nice meal, like a good steak and kidney pie with chips and mushy peas. For a real challenge, Weston's Old Rosie Scrumpy. At 7.3%, it's not hard to understand why one can "Go west with Rosie".
Apparently a dead rat in the barrel improves the flavour...

Budweiser . . .
. . the real one. Sold in the U.S. as Czechvar (due to trademark battles) - it's [link|http://www.budvar.cz/|Budvar] in Czech and [link|http://www.budvar.cz/|Budweiser] in German.
Any beer that I will pay $7 / 6-pack is certainly no ordinary beer (note: Prussian content in my ancestry - "Prussian" is Teutonic equivalent for English "Scotch" in economic terminology and "cheap bastard" in U.S.).

Scotch is a drink. (it all tastes like paintstripper to me, but hey. The landlord at my local, Don, who is something of a connoisseur of these things, periodically proffers to me samples of his latest two-hundred-year old single malt, made by men in kilts in castles in the peat bog, in the forlorn hope that THIS ONE will educate Peter's tastebuds, but with no success yet)
Scottish is the nationality :-)
[Edit: I've had Budvar in Prague. A beer revelation, it is.]

Technically correct, but . .
. . the expression commonly used in the U.S. applies the incorrect form, so does one present the form that is actually used in speach or the form that is correct but not used?
Perhaps you folks apply the correct usage over there?
You have paint stripper over there that tastes like single malt Scotch?

You should, obviously, use the correct form.
That's what it being the correct form MEANS.
Furthermore, I'd say that a nation that thinks its speech is called "speach" has disqualified itself from any normative function whatsoever.

I wouldn't say it's language evolving . .
. . because the expression "He's Scotch" as an idication of "thrift" has largely faded from American usage (though one of my clients, Thrifty Appliance Repair, does feature a Scot in a kilt as their mascot, it's a rather old business). Scots just aren't a significant eth over here any more.
Given the "incorrect" usage is archaic I'm not surprised it doesn't show up in so general a Google search, however here is "supporting documentation" from a more specific Google search for [link|http://www.mcn.org/c/irapilgrim/race02.html|"He's Scotch"] (third paragraph).

Single malt or death.
Jameson's single malt Irish is quite good...otherwise the lowest on the rung for me is Glenfiddich or Glenmorangie.
If I have to drink blended I drink American Whiskey (read bourbon).

..but it's not Scotch - unless you include the islands that make it the same way.
To me, non-blended Scotch tastes like medicine. If I want a medicinal drink, it's Jaegermeister.
(My first ever whiskey was a pint of Bourbon, which made me very ill without hurling, making it much much worse. Thus even the thought of Bourbon makes my head reel.)

Re: Beer suggestions?
For something that's domestic (kinda-sorta, to us Yanks), go for Shiner Bock. It's produced in Shiner, Texas, but last time I looked, the closest place I could get it is a 6-hour drive to the middle of Missouri.
Others here have recommended Czechvar, and I second this recommendation. I've been trying some different beers lately, and this one stands out.
Also, while I was in NYC something like 2 years ago, I went to a place in Tribeca or Soho called the Belgian Beer Bar. I had 3 or 4 Belgian Beers there, and while I can't remember the names of any of them, they were all superb. I'll try to track down my cousin, who lives in NYC, later today on AIM to see if I can resurrect those memories a bit more...

Other fine Canadian brews
Kawartha Lakes Brewery (KLB) Raspberry Wheat Brick Honey Red Amsterdam Natural Blonde Amsterdam Dutch Amber Lager Cameron's Cream Ale Northern Red Maple Upper Canada Maple Brown Ale
Leave the last two in the fridge longer to produce a sweeter beer. I found that out by accident delving into the back of the fridge.
Trafalgar Raspberry Mead (not entirely a beer since it's made of honey but it's an early ancestor of beer)
Algonquin Honey Brown (off the market but Brick now owns it, a come back?!) Since my favourite Honey Brown became toast I've tried many a replacement and found Rickard's Honey Brown to be the closet to taste.

Just so you know
it's Upper Canadian; Upper Canada was what's now Ontario, and is English. You might make a case for Lower Canadièn (that being what's now Québec), but that would be Canadièn de plus bâs.
Forgot that one in my earlier response; it's MUCH smaller than the other breweries I mentioned, and is in fact sometimes difficult to get even here.
