The Mother's Day reference is peculiarly apt because my mother and her mother had always had a rocky relationship with the result that my mother always found Mother's Day trying, even though she loved my siblings and I. However, in recent years, her mother had mellowed and they had begun to repair the problems from long ago.


I hear that. My Aunt Betty's daughter came to see her before she died, and she had been estranged from her for YEARS and YEARS. Betty knew her, which was wonderful, but the daughter is dealing with some pretty odd emotions right now, because she never made the peace sooner. Sad, really.
