Here's a link to Santa Rosa [link|http://nl12.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=SA&p_theme=sa&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_text_search-0=Brighthaven&s_dispstring=Brighthaven&p_field_date-0=YMD_date&p_params_date-0=date:B,E&p_text_date-0=2002&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&xcal_useweights=no| Press Democrat] which is just an archive search on 'Brighthaven' since 1/1/02. (It's about the only daily around, 'cept for a tiny rag in Sonoma) Didn't look to see if SF Chronicle picked up on it. Yet.
I expect that letters to editor - both printed and 'extras' to the website - will indicate continuing fallout. It made the front page of the PD on Saturday (the raid was on Fri.). Other orgs have begun to coalesce, around the country - according to a friend.
Alas the PD option to "see full text of the article" (from which I quoted above) gets me a small MT box (with j-script-on): in &^#$ Mozilla 9.9. With j-script-off - nada, zippo happens. YMMV with a less j-script brain dead browser. ('Course too, it could be PD's site M$-d into illegibility ?)
I'll eventually know a lot more about the local Fish & Game habits, as well as the agenda of the particular creep who uttered the stuff you can read. [maybe read..] What I hear from those who have frequent interactions with F&G is (what one would expect) -- their folks vary greatly in both intelligence and attitude towards their 'authority'. {sigh} It ain't as if the whole org. were monolithically in favor of this stupid Act. There will be repercussions though - that seems now inevitable.
There will be a website address reel soon, for coordinating the interest already rolling. Place to send a few $.. couldn't hoit either, I guess. Your efforts can't hoit either! :-)
Thanks,
Ashton
