I've been thinking about that subject some of late, doing the old relationship review thing.

A woman I dated a few years ago is probably closest I've seen a person to a cat (self excepted, natch). There's a few things about cats that I like:
  • They're utterly comfortably in their own skins, and relish in it. Many a woman could learn a few things here.
  • They're happy to see you, when they see you. Another grilf was of the disposition: I'm unhappy when you're not here, and I'll take it out on you when you are. I left. Cats -- mine misses me when I'm gone, but makes up by appreciating me when I'm with him.
  • When they're happy, they let you know it, in a way that's infectious. It's not just the purring but all the other wallowing-in-pleasure things that go with it. First-mentioned woman above was like this. Just being in her presense was good. The trick a cat has learned is to make you happy making it happy. Again, a lesson to be learned (and some women know it).
  • Tactile response. Whether it's curled up in your lap, nuzzling up against you, lying next to you on the couch or in bed, a woman^Wcat just feels good. There's an animal-level communication of comfort, love, etc., that's something you can't get with words.
All of this is immensely rewarding.

...about the only downside I've got is that the damned creature can be awfully unfaithful. Took to sleeping with my roommates in college. Left me for an older woman at a later household (though with two other cats and the Blessed Ex in the house, I couldn't blame him). Since, he's displayed somewhat greater fidelity.

So, I guess I'm looking for a cat-like woman, at least in some regards. Which reminds me of that Aesops fable of Venus and the cat.... Frankly, I don't think I'd object even if she were a good mouser....
