Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Which...
Version of the Debian-Installer?

There are Nightly builds, the sarge version is slightly behind the SID version.

Did you get them from the link *I* posted?

They haven't folded in EVERYTHING mainly because some of the techniques in knoppix-kudzu (or whatever) uses some highly unorthodox conventions to kick the tires of a machine. And seeing that MOST of those conventions are for iX86 only... and can have extremely bad consequences on other platform like SPARC and HPPA etc... They are left out.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]

New Nah, nightly build from debian.org

And I understand this - remember, I'm looking for something that I can just hand to any user and say "check THIS out". Following it up with - "It won't go on your hard drive without a lot of work" just won't do, though... *chuckle*

I thought I could just hand them a regular netinst CD along with the Kanotix livecd - I was disappointed when my experiment didn't work.

I'll try out your link - I think I got mine from cdimage.debian.org, not 'gluck'; I know I picked up a daily, and started out from the debian.org main page. Heh - I'm always ready to try again - wish me 'luck'!

Imric's Tips for Living
  • Paranoia Is a Survival Trait
  • Pessimists are never disappointed - but sometimes, if they are very lucky, they can be pleasantly surprised...
  • Even though everyone is out to get you, it doesn't matter unless you let them win.

Nothing is as simple as it seems in the beginning,
As hopeless as it seems in the middle,
Or as finished as it seems in the end.

New Nope. No detecto.

New What kind of NIC?
There are certain kinds of NICs that have been giving hell to discover and hotplug (which are more crossplatform now)

Mayhaps a bugreport?

New Wow...
I have the same NIC on-board on my motherboard. Found it the first time. Dunno.

New Saw bug reports on it already via Google...
So I dunno either. Knoppix/Kanotix sees it - just none of my Debian Netinst disks... *grin* I have 4 of them at the moment.

It really is a shame that the Kanotix disk doesn't work - it's supposed to be sid just for the install issue. I hope it gets better next release - or that someone else does it better.

Geez. I may be forced to 'roll my own'.

I dunno.

Imrix?

New Or maybe not.
Did not realize that Kanotix had a newer version than the one I was using - and they specifically mention improvements in alsa after hd install...

More after the download.
