They already know that the US will torture prisoners to death.
They already know that the US will lie about its intelligence findings.

Show the world how nice you are.
The idea is to get the citizens in the other mid-east countries so pissed off that they'll force their governments to kick the US troops out.
It's a slim chance, but it's the only chance right now.
