New Just for the soda and wine
I think we have John Sculley to thank for inventing the 2 liter bottle of Pepsi over here. Then Jobs convinced him to stop selling "sugar water" and come on over to Apple. Then Sculley ousted Jobs.

Coca-cola had the three liter bottle, but got rid of it and now has 1 and 2 liter bottles. A local soda maker, [link|http://users.arn.net/~sirrah/pages/vess.htm|Vess], has 2 and 3 liter bottles of their soda. Vess also has no sodium in their soda, and claims to have billions of bubbles. [link|http://www.kashrut.com/consumer/soda/|And it is Kosher!] Too bad that Vess doesn't appear to have their own web page? But there is a [link|http://www.catsupbottle.com/other/otherpix/vess.html|Giant Vess Soda Bottle] you can look at. :)

New Don't forget the hard likker
Not just soda and wine, I don't think I've ever seen a hard liquor bottle in anything other than metric.

New Depends on where it is bottled
I guess? A pint of Jack Daniels or a Litre/Liter/Howeveryouspellit?

You know who tried to keep the metric system down in the good old US of A, right?

New Never seen a pint of Jack Daniels
But then I'm not *that* much of an experienced drinker.

And again, I'm in a state that has tightly, one might say strictly, one might say anally, regulated liquor sales. State liquor stores. Nobody other than state-sponsored places can sell liquor. No surprise to me that "alternate formats" might not show up here.

New Re: Never seen a pint of Jack Daniels
I am not that experienced a drinker either. I drank in college and quit smoking and drinking around 1994. But I thought they had quarts, pints, etc of some whiskey? I do know; however, that beer comes in kegs and half-kegs from my fraternity days. :)

New Can't say that they don't
All I can say is that I've never seen English measurement liquor on sale anywhere, mostly Ohio, Indiana. Maybe some of the old-timers can remember the days. :-)
