New Another kid killed by own mother
Right here in my town. She stabbed her two boys, one dead the other just upgraded from critical to serious. Judge says she is incompetent to stand trial. Seems to me any mother who kills her own kids is, by definition, insane. But what do I know, I'm not a mother.

From the local [link|http://www.news-gazette.com/story.cfm?Number=11144|paper]. I don't think the nationals have picked this up yet.
With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New What led to this?
What pushed her off the edge? What pushes any mother off the edge that makes her want to kill her own children? How many "Time Bomb" Moms do we have out there who are ready to snap and kill their own kids?

"Will code Visual BASIC for cash."
New My wife
and daughter.

It could happen.

My daughter LOVES to push my wife's buttons.
The more my wife screams, the happier my daughter
is. It is a control issue. And my daughter is
only 10.

God help us when she hits her teens.
New Seek help, get counseling
if your daughter is pushing your wife's buttons, she needs to seek out help. Find out how to stop your daughter from doing that, and get your wife some help. My son knows how to push my buttons, but I am changing them so that he can't push the same button twice. What he does that works against mommy, doesn't work against daddy. He already learned that one already and he is only three. I've given him a lot of "time outs" and a few times spanked him. I don't normally believe in spankings, but when talking, time outs, and other stuff fails, sometimes you just got to slap them on the rear end to get their attention about what they did was wrong. I hope that he can learn from it.

Say, how about a parenting forum, where we can share what we do that works with other parents? parenting is a very hard thing to do. I bought the Dr. Spock book, but it does not cover everything.

New Yup
When my wife was pregnant w/ 2nd child, we were watching
Married with Children.

The women were pregnant, and bitching about not getting
sex anymore.

Al told his buddies there was no point in having sex
with a pregnant women. It was like filling your car
up with gas right after you totaled it.

I laughed.

My wife threw a full 2 liter bottle of Coke at me.

Hard.
New So, you *do* have liters over there...
New And wine comes in 750 ml and 1.5 L bottles.
But milk comes in quarts, half gallons and gallons and canned soft drink in 12 (liquid) ounces.

New Just for the soda and wine
I think we have John Sculley to thank for inventing the 2 liter bottle of Pepsi over here. Then Jobs convinced him to stop selling "sugar water" and come on over to Apple. Then Sculley ousted Jobs.

Coca-cola had the three liter bottle, but got rid of it and now has 1 and 2 liter bottles. A local soda maker, [link|http://users.arn.net/~sirrah/pages/vess.htm|Vess], has 2 and 3 liter bottles of their soda. Vess also has no sodium in their soda, and claims to have billions of bubbles. [link|http://www.kashrut.com/consumer/soda/|And it is Kosher!] Too bad that Vess doesn't appear to have their own web page? But there is a [link|http://www.catsupbottle.com/other/otherpix/vess.html|Giant Vess Soda Bottle] you can look at. :)

New Don't forget the hard likker
Not just soda and wine, I don't think I've ever seen a hard liquor bottle in anything other than metric.

New Depends on where it is bottled
I guess? A pint of Jack Daniels or a Litre/Liter/Howeveryouspellit?

You know who tried to keep the metric system down in the good old US of A, right?

"Will work for fair salary and benefits, seeking company with integrity."
New Never seen a pint of Jack Daniels
But then I'm not *that* much of an experienced drinker.

And again, I'm in a state that has tightly, one might say strictly, one might say anally, regulated liquor sales. State liquor stores. Nobody other than state-sponsored places can sell liquor. No surprise to me that "alternate formats" might not show up here.

New Re: Never seen a pint of Jack Daniels
I am not that experienced a drinker either. I drank in college and quit smoking and drinking around 1994. But I thought they had quarts, pints, etc of some whiskey? I do know; however, that beer comes in kegs and half-kegs from my fraternity days. :)

New Can't say that they don't
All I can say is that I've never seen English measurement liquor on sale anywhere, mostly Ohio, Indiana. Maybe some of the old-timers can remember the days. :-)

Now, if you want to say that proves American "English" isn't really _English_... Hey, be my guest, but *I* never said it! :-)
