Getting off the rock won't help those of us still here.

Even with a space elevator or twenty, you just can't boost enough people into orbit to make a dent in population growth. Like it or not, we do need to solve our own issues here in addition to any space-based activities.

True...

But I'm considering species survival... Plus, if we can learn to live in truly hostile environments, maybe we can learn to live with an annoyed Mother Earth.
