I say, ...
ban all flat-earthers. Xians, Jews and Muslims from all aircraft. Hell, if we ban them all from the world, imagine how much more peaceful the place would be.

It would seem, therefore, that the three human impulses embodied in religion are fear, conceit, and hatred. The purpose of religion, one might say, is to give an air of respectibility to these passions. -- Bertrand Russell

Hmmm.
You should read [link|http://www.amazon.com/God-Delusion-Richard-Dawkins/dp/0618680004/|Dawkin's latest book], if you haven't already. Atheists are a tiny minority in much of the world. While it's true that determined minorities are usually the ones that change the world, it's a very tough process.
His [link|http://richarddawkins.net/home|blog] is pretty good too.
I think that it's more likely that atheists will be banned from aircraft than theists will.
Cheers, Scott.

You're right.
Atheists will be banned from domestic aircraft *way* before the God-In-My-Image crowd. I know this will wrankle a few, but I seriously do not see much of any difference between the following: Islamic Extremists, Christian Evangelicals, Zionists. With any of the three, their respective gods have chosen *them* and just *them*, so anything they do to the rest of us poor slobs is okie-dokie with The Big Guy™.

If we banned all the theists...
...wars would start over whether the universe will end by collapse or heat death.
Religion is just an excuse.

Not any more peaceful at all
Because raving ideologues like yourself (who calls for the death, imprisonment, resettling and treatment as subhumans on a regular basis any he dissaproves of) are not a function of religion, but instead are flaw in humanity. You are a VERY good illustration of this.

Huh?
You're not seriously taking issue with the truth of the following statement:
"More violence has been committed in the name of God than in the name of anything else."
Are you?

s /God/Greed/
:-)
I think this topic has been pounded on pretty well in the [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=175218|past].
Without being more quantitative this time, it's difficult to make progress on it.
Should we start a table?
Conflict ........... Cause Tower of Babel ..... ? ... Trojan War ......... Lust ... WWI ................ Hubris (?) ... Iraq War ........... Hubris/Greed/Idealism/Stupidity/Etc.
?
Cheers, Scott.

Yup.
- I don't believe it's true. Thievery and domestic violence alone over the eons would make for more killings than religious killings and 'crusades'; most wars were and ARE over territory and economics (see greed above).
- That statement has almost ZERO to do with what I said. Fanatic, uncompromising (fundaMENTAList) ideology is certainly not limited to religion - look to socio-economic philosophies as well, like, oh, say socialism, communism & capitalism. Then there's skin-prejudice, nationalism, and any other excuse that Homo-saps use to elevate themelves as different and 'superior' to others. As I said, you are a good illustration; you quite obviously consider yourself to be superior to those that are religious, and would have no trouble with global internment and genocide of those that do not feel as you do - further, you consider people that do not follow your ideology to be inferior to you and should not be allowed self-rule - instead they should be governed by a 'superior' class that shares your particular ideology! (this is all taken from posts you have made in these forums) Quite simply, eliminate religion and people would still be at the same game - they would simply find different excuses.
