No, and no.
I'm not dating anybody, and the woman I was considering "testing the waters" with, so to say, didn't show tonight, but she is pretty short, even if she isn't a dwarf.

Ok, so how short is short?
My ex was just 4'10". My two daughters are 4'8" and 4'7" (both in college, so probably not much growth left).
Ex hated any reference to height. Daughters don't mind.

About 4'10"-4'11".
Not entirely sure, but she looks like she's about that tall.

One word
of advice, which you probably already know. Find out what she REALLY thinks about her height. My ex was so sensitive that we actually left a company (mine) Christmas party when someone made an innocent remark about her height. I learned to be very cautious when discussing height.
That's also one reason why I ended up with custody of my two daughters. Ex blamed herself (it's genetic - passed from mother) for their lack their height. After divorce I worked with my daughters to give them a positive self esteem and taught them how to counter the crude and crass height remarks made toward them at school.
I know it's early in the "relationship", but just wanted to tell you my experiences. Good luck.

You're a tall guy though
maybe you should "raise your standards".
Then you can find someone where you see "eye to eye" on things.

Did once.
It ended badly.
I'm not actually all that preferential on height - just seem to end up with the short ones for some reason. It's not quite as much of a difference as one of my dance instructors - he's about 6'6", and a total bear. His partner is about 4'6", and very pixieish. It was very strange watching them in our aerials class, because he could just toss her around like a sack without any effort, and then we had to do what they had just done.
Not fair, I tell ya.

In San Francisco
there was a dance club called the "Tip Toppers". Women over 6' tall looking for dance partners of similar size.
Might be a similar one here.

Maybe you like cutie pies
and they tend to be short. My wife is a cutie pie, and she's all of 5'3" - although that might be too tall for you.

Yeap.
That way, no connotations about being diminutive or limited could be inferred.
Bad weather, enduring it.
Mountains, being huge in capacity or possibility.
See how stupid this gets, the further you go. "Little People" is pretty much the preferred term, given that the group chose it.

But you aren't talking about that specific group.
You're talking about people who might *almost* be dwa--uh, Little People, but aren't.
OK, so any arbitrary height limit may be wrong in some cases: What you, Greg, are talking about is a "physical abnormity" (caused by hormones or hormone deficiencies and stuff); the girl Thane (and most of the rest of the gang) was talking about, OTOH, is apparently one of those "physically normal" people who just *happen* to be at the extreme lower end of the "normal" spectrum.
Witth that definition, I can well imagine that there are actually some dw^H^H Little People who are taller than some "normal" people. Weird, innit?
Anyway: I think the girl Thane was talking about would be just a "very little person", without capitals, as opposed to one of the capitalized "Little People".

Rebuttle
Sorry Laura. From experience.
Hearing loss diminishes your ability - to hear (I wear hearing aids). Eyesight loss diminishes your ability - to see (Reading glasses here).
But lack of height is NOT an impairment. Nothing is diminished except the self-esteem of the person who is not of "normal" height.
My ex was 4'10" and VERY sensitive to height "jokes", comments, and remarks. She passed on the gene to our daughters, and has stated, at times, that had she known that our daughters were going to be "short", she would not have had children. When we were divorced, her feelings on height were one of the reasons why I was given custody.
I'll repeat here from earlier post. I've worked very hard to give my daughters a very health self esteem. They are 4'7" and 4'8". Much shorter than the average. And classmates can be cruel. We worked on how to reply to jokes, inappropriate comments and remarks. How to educate the teachers so that they would be treated as an equal, not a toy (they were constantly picked up and carried by classmates, in fun), and that their lack of stature did not mean a lack of mental capacity (both are in the upper 2% on all standard testing). They are both now in college, where they are "on their own", and are doing very well.
Of course they ALWAYS pick the TALLEST person for friends.
Sorry for the rant, but you're talking about my family... :-)
