Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Because heaven forbid
You should have to endure some gouges in your hand while she's PUSHING A WHOLE HUMAN OUT OF HER BODY from an opening that is normally the diameter of a pencil.

Not to scare you Static, but the pain is IMPRESSIVE. Please-shoot-me-in-the-head-and-let-me-die-now impressive. I delivered both kids with no meds. Breathing didnt help. Music didnt help. Guided imagery didnt help. Worst pain. EVER. I gave up halfway through the delivery of my daughter and refused to push. I wasnt going to do it anymore and I was going to go home. My doctor (God bless her) crawled right up on the table at my feet and started yelling at me "Laura, you open your eyes. NOW. You either push that baby out or you lay there all night and have contractions." To which I replied, "OH FINE!!" About 10 minutes later my daughter was born.

She had a huge head. All those brains, dontcha know. Takes after her Momma. ;-)

New See, I would put that a little bit differently
Heaven forbid you should have the bones in your hand crushed while she's doing a normal bodily function.

But that's just me... (and I've been there for the birth of both my children).

I will say that there is no doubt that the pain is impressive, as bio says.

I will now don my asbestos suit as the women on the board come down on my ass.

New Speaking of your ass
Let's shove a watermelon up there and see what kind of time you have getting it out.

Then we'll talk.

You're gonna need that suit.
New Nice to see that you performed as expected! :D

New Yeah, I'm getting my mojo back.
Been a rough month. Things seem to be working themselves out and I'm bouncing back. :-)
New Hey, is it so bad to prevent unnecessary pain and wounding?
Why did you go no drugs?
New Control.
No meds helped me stay in control. I could participate more actively and also had a better sense if things were going wrong because I could feel it. It put me in charge of my body and my deliveries.
Control.

New Did longer nails give you more control as well?
Well, I guess they could.

But it seems you only answered the 2nd question.
New Have you seen my nails?
They're not much better than yours.

And I'm not answering that other question.
New its not your hand you have to worry about
she will go right after the initial cause of the pain if you arnt fast on your feet.
thanx,
bill

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow

New ring of fire
Sydney, my wife, delivered both of our kids sans meds too. The first time it was by choice. Our daughter was born 5 weeks early, she was pretty small, so that wasn't too bad. Our son went full-term and was born in 1.5 hours from water break to delivery. I now understand why some babies are delivered on the side of the road, in elevators etc... Oh, yeah, the pain was more significant *cough* the second time.
Have fun,
Carl Forde
