Do you want to tag along after our caravan?
We can trade off so you have someone to talk to as well, if you want.

That's a good idea.
I would like that. Let's see if we cant get that set up. Someone has my number, right? Although you guys might slow me down. My best time out to NJ is under 8 hours. With the cruise control on. No braking. Going through the mountains. Yee haw!
Did I scare you all off?

Greg DEFINITELY doesn't drive that slowly.
Good thing he got rid of the Bravia, because I think my claw-marks still reside in that thing's dashboard from riding shotgun last year.
Drafting off someone else at 85 mph == not fun for the passenger.
PS: Greg, do you know that your "Check Engine Soon" light is on?

Speed good.
Speed with another vehicle less than a foot in front of you at 85mph bad. Especially when said driver is VERY likely pissed off at you for drafting like that.

I was trying to show you...
How drafting CAN have a great effect on mileage. Well, that and trying to see what your threshold for stun mode was. BTW, wasn't my piece: Passengers should be scared and not heard. At least it was something like that. My Bravada had transfer case problems. But going in a straight line was fine. We traded that puppy in on a Nice, Nice 2004 Mitsubishi Galant, with the V6 (260ish hp). Rides like a DREAM. Drives like a sports car. Get rather decent mileage compared to the Bravada, but not as good as my 2001 Mitsu Lancer. But, I am planning on Taking Friday off, so I'll prolly sleep in Scott's den, and get him to be ready 7-8AM (If I am lucky). Plus, I get a new toy this year when I get to his house!!! Yeah! So, if Bionerd thinks she can keep up...

Here's how we usually work it:
Greg shows up at my house in the wee hours of Friday morning (like, 6ish). (Or, he shows up the night before and sleeps in the den.)
Greg finally manages to get me moving and out the door 2 hours later. Then we drive to Drew's house and offend his wife, around noon usually.
After that it's pedal-down drafting through the mountains (with judicious rumble-strip usage and shrieking to keep Drew awake). Typically we stop for dinner outside Philly and hit Bill's around 8ish pm.
And since you don't care about the return trip...

Well, it would be lovely if you could swing by
and I'll follow you out. Or if it's too much of a pain for you guys I can just show up at Bill's around 8pm. I've made that drive many times by myself so it's not that big of a deal. I bring every CD I have and sing my head off.
If something changes between then and now, though, and I can ride out with you, I will surely let you know.
Thanks, Scott. Laura

Nice that it's easy to check the parent post...:
Without some context, the description of aggressive driving and the statement "And since you don't care about the return trip..." comes off just a tiny bit weird.

I can see it now.
IWT arrives at Monk's, settles into rear corner.
Greg: I'll have one of your finest sour beers, please. Greg: Know what? Better make it two. Waitress: I'm sorry, sir. That was a special we had last year only.
IWT leaves Monk's.

Oh come now...
You forget how Drill Instructors think. San Diego, where they issue Sunglasses, ya know. Eating Duck for dinner, as interpreted by a Drill Instructor is: - You stand Belly-Button-to-Asshole in line for Chow
- You get everything you want to eat.
- You walk to your location you will be sitting
- You Sit Down.
- You look at an smell the food, and only take a drink of your water.
- You stand up, grab your tray and water
- Proceed to the tray collection receptacle
- Dump the food you were to full to eat.
- Place the tray on the conveyor.
- Get back in formation
- When fully formed and the Drill Instructor comes out, you thank him to treating you to a Duck Meal
You Duck-in, You Duck-Out.
