New non programmer raises hand
what is the advantage of using java vs a pretty html front end that kicks off back end processes via a comms channel, and have a thin client relationship with screens redrawing on the clent and logic, queries etc back on the server?
thanx,
bill
stuff my evil grin down here"the reason people don't buy conspiracy theories is that they think conspiracy means everyone is on the same program. Thats not how it works. Everybody has a different program. They just all want the same guy dead. Socrates was a gadfly, but I bet he took time out to screw somebodies wife" Gus Vitelli

New "Pretty HTML front end"
There are a lot of applications that would absolutely suck in an HTML interface without a LOT of painful Javascript programming.

Note Google Maps, which uses DHTML for the easy stuff, and Java for the zoomy panny part.
