[bionerd might enjoy]___The 'misandric' society ???
{chortle} An unwary goofus takes on my Fav movie (and other) [link|http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/02/13/PKGAB989LS1.DTL| critic] with this Rushmouth leading question... Dear Mick LaSalle: I really like your review of "Elektra" and comments on feminism. We live in a misandric culture where we are all supposed to rejoice at women killing men. Hollywood, academia and feminist seem hell-bent on destroying manhood and masculinity.
Scott Nichols, Rochester, Mich. Rii--ight. Mick blinks, rubs eyes and replies - Dear Scott Nichols: No, my friend. We do not live in a man-hating culture, and I doubt even the wackos selling that nonsense on talk radio believe it. In our culture right now, femininity and womanhood are under assault, and from several fronts. You get movies like "Kill Bill" and "Elektra," which present paranoid, misogynist fantasies masquerading as images of power, and TV shows that define a young woman's worth entirely in terms of how well she's able to attract men. At the same time, you have ostensibly serious news shows questioning whether women are "really equal" after all. The goal of both sides of this crazy spectrum is to confine women to a very narrow set of options, as either objectified sirens of adolescent fantasy or sentimentalized keepers of traditional values. Either vision serves men. Both visions put women in a straitjacket. Here's a good rule of thumb: When you see guys in movies portrayed as sounding boards, sexual objects and helpmates, and when you see scientists talking about the limits of male intelligence, and when you see political leaders talking about rolling back "men's rights," then it will be time to talk about our "misandric culture.". I do So Love a calyumnist of such compactness in Game Set Match.. Now let us hear from the Promise Keepers\ufffd Internationale. Oh Please! Them uppity broads need a Firm Patriarchal Hand, the poor little deers. (Now you Mich. guys have got Yet-Another-Scott on your hands!) :-0

Where, where? And what's there?
The expression is "Hear, hear!", dammit!
(Think of it like this: Just what the fuck is "Here, here!" supposed to *mean*?!?)
