Welcome to IWETHEY!

New shot off a missive to Sen Ted who is Alaska's giant
dont know why his name is on this, must be a favor.
Dear Senator Stevens,
It has come to my attention that you have co-sponsored a bill called the "Security Systems | Standards and Certification Act".
Although well intentioned it appears as written to kill all open source licenced software such as linux. I am sure this is unintentional but the only operating system that can meet the requirements as written is Microsoft's .NET. When I also notice that anti trust is waived on this issue it also raises questions considering that Microsoft would have a free pass to continue its monopolistic practices. I am sure that in writing a bill to protect entertainment companies etc was what you had in mind but as written this bill will put many of us out of work, including myself because I work on open systems. I would like to direct you(or a staff member) to a link that shows this bill could be used to stifle all american technology for decades to come. This link might be disjointed because it is the continuing discussion by programmers and sysadmins across this nation.
Please review and address this issues in the bill.

I work as a Senior Engineer for a large telecommunication company and would be available for any hearings that may be conducted.
Thank you for your always attentiveness to our issues,
Bill Oxley
his staff is usually good about looking inta stuff, but email isnt the same as sharing the steam room with him and his buds at the Capt. Cook Hotel in Anchorage.
thanx,
bill
why did god give us a talleywhacker and a trigger finger if he didnt want us to use them?

New Captain Cook eh.. what's the chances of your needing a soak
next time this pigeon flies in?

Hey.. what if each of us sent a tenner, fer your appointment in the steam room? We're all aware that your Gulfstream needs a new aileron.
(Talk... is cheap. I'll pay, for one)

One must often use the methods of the deranged in order to first understand, and then undo them.

And you sent the message so er gently, you might even be able to get his actual attention; sorta read off the above annotated list - this alone would indicate to him, how many 'IT folk' can not only decipher Congressional doubletalk, but discern the motives within. This should.. be *news* to him (??)

A.
New I have dealt with his office before
on personal issues with the feds and constituant services are his strong suit. He is his own man and will be happy to disagree but always listens to all parties.

OT the only reason we shared the health club was bcause I worked at the hotel as the lone IT person and wangled a perk. This is a place that doesnt exist elsewhere. The only thing you need to take is a razor and clean clothes. Hot shaving bar, sauna, steam room jacuzzi and a lounge with CNN and the wall street jounal to relax in with coffee, fruit juices, bagels available. After an hr or so in there was ready to face the minions of users.
thanx,
bill
