Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Davis is a muckity-muck in the Republican establishment now
after being a long-time local political leader. He's "Chair, National Republican Congressional Committee". He's not too bad, though certainly not my ideal representative, and represents his district pretty well. More [link|http://issues2002.org/VA/Tom_Davis.htm|here] - they rate him a "moderate populist conservative".

[link|http://www.frankcreel.org/|Frank Creel], the independent (Constitution Party) running against him, is a kook from what I've been able to read about him. "I will never vote for a tax increase," he says.

In "The Mount Vernon Gazette" - our local community paper - it says:

Creel described himself as a "restorationist" whose views "are not all that different from Harry Truman's."

The independent candidate challenging Davis opposes abortion, pornography and what he calls the "homosexual agenda." Government, for him is "a necessary evil" and taxation is "an accomodation of evil." ...

I don't know much about Warner's opponents, but like you believe that he's done a decent job. He's far more conservative than I am, and can be made to look like a Ghengis Khan in [link|http://issues2002.org/Senate/John_Warner.htm|this] "moderate conservative" rating, but he strongly opposed Ollie North and voted Not Guilty on Clinton's perjury charge, so he's got a mind of his own.

Warner's got at least 3 opponents:
[link|http://www.gailcrook4virginia.com/|Gail Crook] is a Democrat who the party wouldn't endorse (thinking that she couldn't raise enough money for a credible challenge). She seems like a lightweight to me, and I don't support her, though I admire her for continuing to run against such a powerful opponent.

[link|http://www.hornberger2002.com/en/stand.asp|Hornberger] is a kook on some issues, some I agree with. But I see no reason why I should vote for him.

[link|http://www.spannausforsenate.com/|Nancy Spannaus] is a LaRouche robot. "Pro-War Vote Proves it Again: LaRouche the Only Real Democratic Leader." Sheesh. I won't support her.

Cheers,
Scott.
