Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Don't sigh...get it right.
There's been Dem's in the White House while your freedoms have evaporated. You were just happy to have them there...so you may not have noticed.

Same as before...claims were made that Conservative Republicans would never deal with environmental legislation...except for the fact that the 4 major pieces of environmentla legislation still being used to date were all signed by Nixon...a conservative Republican.

The point to get through is one that Ashton makes all of the time. They're all the same. They all agree at some point or another when the offending legislation is enacted...and are so far removed from the people they govern that they don't understand that it pisses most of them off.

And I'm really fucking SICK of being painted a racisit because I think the Fed are a bunch of power mad, self absorbed idiots. Civil Rights started at the LOCAL LEVEL with a boycott of a bussing system in Alabama. It is a shining example of how local issues that affect the nation will eventually make it to the Fed level.

It doesn't need to start at the Fed level to get there. And it shouldn't.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New A small sorta myo-cranial infarction perhaps -
It doesn't need to start at the Fed level to get there. And it shouldn't.

Agreed. In fact - Washington's business ought to be - collecting the best ideas which originate from the source: the people who Elected Them.
(Presuming that Some movement next: restores that antecedence, wrests power back from the Corporations whose indentured servants used to be Our indentured servants)

Not Top-down, but Bottom-up - then Collate.

Now, presuming for a milisecond that DC in fact operated in this mode - collecting the Best. What? Ought DC to do about, passing on the benefits of this 'Best' ? Nothing? Wait for Alabama to stop lynching blacks (and selling thepost cards of this Strange Fruit hanging all over their trees)? [Seen those?]

Hey - unless the USSC is "Bad-ol-Washington" too - it took Them to formally recognize the fallacy of 'separate but equal'. Guess they had no bizness making them Independent States clean up their schooling acts, either?

So whaddaya wanna Do with Fed power: treaties (Oh Yeah - THAT's about Selling. That's gotta be OK - Right?) and mail maybe? And Wars, natch.

And if Tuskaloosa wants to teach reading by "testing for retention of Bible stories": laissez faire, right? "Contemporary Community Standards" - nice ring to that. Except where there be werewolves or vampires in some 'community' and some kids don't Want to drink the blood of the lamb.

So.. in the 2002 world, now dominated Worldwide by multinational Corporations: organizations which have NO ALLEGIANCE to *any country* (even), none to 'society' in any sense except their self-survival - and often not even to Themselves! (IF: the Parachute is brightly coloured, as you leave things crashing and burning, whistling..) - -

What IS the role of DC today? (besides to disappear quietly and leave it all to Your school Board.) It IS all about the cheeldrun, right? The Right to clone One's Personal worldview unChanged, forever next - without any outside er 'interference' with the inculcation process (?)
Maybe not for You - but evidently for many - This is what 'local control' often reduces to, decoded.

Now if we can't handle 'local control' OR Fed control - - er, maybe we are just too controlling a society to survive? Or maybe we just need some More Wars on ... [stuff we regularly can't control, like sensual pleasure, but that never stops us from starting YAN War-on- anyway]
