Welcome to IWETHEY!

New An open letter to Dubya.
From an unknown source....

Dear President Bush;

I understand that you have no concept of the shit you inadvertently tossed into the fan, when you used the term "crusade" when speaking about the War on Terror. That word has a very specific historical legacy, but only to those of us who read, so we don't honestly expect you to understand why we all shook our heads in disbelief.

Your State of the Union address included the new phrase "Axis of Evil". It's not as disturbing to most of us, on historical grounds but strategically, it's just as erroneous and it's actually more dangerous, from a geo-political diplomacy perspective. Even ultra-conservatives agree that you've probably set diplomatic relations back 15 years.

Last week, when you were visiting China, you accidentally substituted the word "devaluation" with the word "deflation" when discussing the plan to save the Japanese economy. That single mistake fraked-out the traders so badly that it knocked most of the foreign stock markets back by millions of points. That was just a small example of the unintended possibilities that sloppy thinking, poor understanding of grammar and fuzzy math can bring to pass.

You (of all people) should know that I'm not being an alarmist when I say, "What the Hell are you doing?" I mean, surely you are aware of your intellectual shortcomings. I bet that your entire life has been abundantly filled with such humorous incidents.

(Hint: remember all those times when people laughed after you said something, even though it wasn't meant to be a joke?)

You could star in your own sit-com, George!

Hell, I'd probably watch it!

Unfortunately, this isn't a sit-com and there's no second takes.

The way you casually toss these phrases around, as though you know what you're talking about, is troubling, and the fact that we will all have to live (or die) with the consequences of your mistakes is frankly scaring the bejesus out of me and anyone else with a high enough IQ to detect the clear and present danger that eventually, you're going to really piss in your own proverbial whiskey and blow us all to Kingdom Come.

Look Tex, I didn't vote for you. Most of us didn't.

On September 11th, our country, our way of life, our values, our freedom and our future was savagely attacked. The survival of the Democracy has been threatened like never before in history, so most of us have rallied behind you as our leader.

(Don't get me wrong, I dearly wish that Bill Clinton was still sitting in the big chair, but he's not.)

The support of the American people is something that should be humbling to anyone. We are a loyal and brave people, and we're behind you, George. (86% behind you) This is not partisan politics, this is Patriotism. They're not the same thing. The sooner you learn that, the better off we'll all be. If this isn't plain enough, let me explain the thrust of my point:

We don't want you handing-out more huge cash grants to major corporations. Call it "economic stimulus", or "economic security", whatever, we're still not buying it. That plan is dead, so get over it.

We don't want you and Dick Cheney to get away with hiding those Enron documents, so take them out of the Shred-o-matic and turn them over. It won't hurt as much as you think, after all, everybody who can read already knows that Kenneth Lay wrote the Energy Plan, I knew it when the plan's details were released to the press, right after you and Mrs. Bush took-up housekeeping on Pennsylvania Avenue. Your Republican supporters are going to follow you, no matter what. They've been blessed with the gift of simplicity.

(They're like the freaking Stepford Wives!)

We Democrats aren't going to toss you, because the thought of Cheney running shit, scares us worse than your word-skills.

Just tell the truth. Get out there and admit that you let Kenny-Boy have too much sugar and, like a spoiled child with attention deficit disorder, he went on a hyperactive rampage of greed and power. We're more than willing to blame Kenneth Lay and Enron for everything. It won't cost you the election in 2004, no matter what Dick Morris tells you. The next Presidential election is probably yours to win or lose.

Plus...

(just in case someone gives you enough rope, and you hang yourself)

...you always have the Supreme Court.

You have the popularity ratings to burn one small mistake, like the Enron Energy Plan. I mean, shit George, think about it! If they tossed every Republican that ever let greedy corporations and their campaign donations effect their policies and their votes, America would have the best dressed unemployment lines in the world!

You're probably going to win on the "Oilfields over Alaska" plan. The Teamsters will walk you thru that one.

You've got the Carnivore program hack-surfing you all the free porno you can shake your little stick at, and I'm almost certain that you'll be able to find yourself a red-neck, right-wing fishing buddy that you can sneak in as a Supreme Court Justice.

(JUST ONE, GEORGE, DON'T GET GREEDY!)

So life on the Potomac-Ponderosa is good.

There's only one more thing that we have to clear-up:

I don't care what you think about Bill Clinton, it's just a fact that the man who had that job before you could calculate war-head kiloton yield equations and rocket-trajectory mathematics in his head. He could tell you the exact range of every missile ever mass-produced since the Chinese invented the bottle-rocket, accurately describe Oppenheimer's role in the Manhattan Project and he could probably build you an exact replica of the first A-bomb prototype with McGuyver's pocket knife and a box of matches.

We know that's not in your bag of tricks, so....

Practice this till you get it right...

THE WORD "NUCLEAR" IS PRONOUNCED: NUKE'-lee-errrr
There's no such word as "nuke-ya-ler" and it makes my teeth rattle every time you mispronounce it, which is EVERY SINGLE TIME that you've ever tried to say it so far.

Nobody ever said this was going to be an easy gig, Gee.
Peace. Out.
PS
Is it true that G.W. stands for "Got War?"
New A for effort (straining for the Clinton stuff)
He could tell the bra size of every prospective intern with a sideways look as he was charging down the hallways to greet potential donors while reciting 18th century legal decisions, writing a new poll to be taken and bombing an aspirin factory.
thats a little better.
thanx,

New Don't forget...
...several allegations of rape going back to Oxford.

Please. Blaming market adjustments in the Far East on the difference between devaluation and deflation? Idiot. Those markets are already screwed...one word ain't gonna make it any better or worse.

And back to this Enron bullshit. Every beat writer in the country has been looking for evidence for quite a while now...and the best they can come up with is "Give us your notes"?

And this you use to say "bring back Clinton"...whose wife "mysteriously" found records in the WH that were supposed to not be there and had been demanded by the Court nearly 6 months prior?

Clinton...who's staff had more than 900 FBI files when we were a half step away from impeaching a President for having 2.

My what we're willing to put up with anymore.

This is tired. GW might not be the best or brightest...but the Presidency can survive him...and now, at least, I don't have to explain to my kids why they aren't allowed to lie to stay out of trouble...but its ok for the President.

New Nit
This is tired. GW might not be the best or brightest...but the Presidency can survive him...and now, at least, I don't have to explain to my kids why they aren't allowed to lie to stay out of trouble...but its ok for the President.

Leaving alone the obvious opening re. "tired"; does "Enron supported my opponent" sound exactly truthful? Or the dissembling about his friendship with Lay?

Face it, Crusader Bunnypants is a politician. His stock in trade is lying. As is true for just about all of them.

You're still going to have to tell your kid that lying is bad. Just don't hold up any politician as an example.

With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New Difference...
...the fact that Enron played both sides is just that...fact.

The rest is spin. There's a difference between political spin and truthfullness (or lack thereof) under oath.

Nit acknowledged...and returned.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New Remind me
What, exactly was Clinton's lie? Or was it more of a lawyer weasleing his way through a case? My understanding of it was he wanted to use a different "legally accepted" definition of the phrase "sexual relations" than his deposer wanted to use. Am I wrong here?

Nice downplaying of his dissembling (generously speaking) about the Enron donations BTW.

"You were a major beneficiary of Enron throughout your political carreer."

"Enron supported my opponent"

Still doesn't sound exactly truthful to me.
With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New Ah, but that's not the problem...
Regardless of whether or not Enron donated to both sides, the real question is what happens now. Since Bush is in charge of the Executative Branch, prosecuting (or failing to prosecute) falls directly (or indirectly) on him.

As yet, to the best of my knowledge, no charge have been filed against Enron, Lay, Skillings or Fastow. (Yet it is a crime for a company to take/use funds from it's employee's pension).

(And note: last I checked, the Clayman Islands STILL hadn't received any official requests for help in an investigation.)
New Ditto
Nothing to add. Just endorsements.
New Allegations.
Nothing proven. No convictions. Just allegations.

Yet you'll skip right over the allegations of Bush's coke problems. About how he was too stoned to pass his flight physical.

New so, ]:-> drug taking == rape?
"I'm selling a hammer," he says. "They can beat nails with it, or their dog."
Richard Eaton spy software innovator
New Are you admitting both?
:)

The actual ACTS are very different.

But the allegations are equivalent.
New not without incontrovertable proof :-)
then I would still deny it. Didnt happen on my watch. Gotti have living witnesses. gollum,
bill
"I'm selling a hammer," he says. "They can beat nails with it, or their dog."
Richard Eaton spy software innovator
New No I won't.
I would point out, however...that one at least has admitted to a problem. Even said he quit. Even though it is true he has not responded to >specific< allegatations.

The other [link|http://www.newsmax.com/showinside.shtml?a=2002/2/26/85752|just keeps stepping in it.] allegedly.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

[link|mailto:bepatient@aol.com|BePatient]
New And you don't see a problem, do you?
Bush breaks the law, does drugs, can't pass his flight exam.

Bill has sex with a willing adult. And may be seeking other willing adults.

One breaks the law, but that's okay.

The other doesn't, but that's a bad thing.

Which is exactly the reason why Starr couldn't get Clinton kicked out of office.

Bill, let me put it in words you can understand.........

IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO FUCK ANOTHER, WILLING ADULT.

But it IS illegal to buy coke.
New Folkways, Mores, Puritanism
Righteousness trumps The Law evry time. (But see: That er varies depending on who you Like.)

Besides... coke (in it's nice white Bolivian Blue-flake -HCl form) is a WASP Yuppie expen$ive drug of choice = Good. Now evil Crack! (same stuff but heated a bit; no -HCl) is Not a WASP thing = Bad.

Sex. Well, sex is _____ [words fail - all of them]

Yer trouble Brandioch, is ya just don't grok how Justice gets done here! - ya hear? You prolly missed the Wisdom from those Senators during the Impeachment ^h^h^h Circus too:

See, when Bill hit on a fellow adult - it was Bad. When the head-Senator, Dr. Jekyll ^h^h^h Mr. Hyde, hit on a fellow adult - it was youthful indiscretion. A mere peccadillo. And that's - OK.

I hope this clears it up for ya; it's not supposed to be consistent! Got it?

I don't get it either, but I see what it IS I don't get - and That, I Get.

I think theres enough corroborative information available.

Like I said, members.tripod.com

Or didn't you hear about Jones, Broaddrick et al from several hundred different sources?
Yep.

But not ONE of those sources actually had any information on him being convicted.

Or did I miss that?
New Oh yeah....
...I forgot...everyone always gets caught!

Or were we both discussing >allegations<

But since Clinton was never convicted..somehow his >allegations< are less serious (although more plentiful) than those against GW

Marlowe may have something there...the air may actually be a touch thinner on Planet Brandioch.

Besides...Juanita is only saying these things cause Bill wouldn't give her any...right? Just like all the rest. Sexual predators always get caught...just ask the Bishop in Boston.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

[link|mailto:bepatient@aol.com|BePatient]
New Ummm, no.
Or were we both discussing >allegations<
I was pointing out that it is childish and pathetic to use ALLEGATIONS in any mature political discussion.

Oh, sorry, I used the phrase "mature discussion" in reference to you.

I know, I know, you and "mature" is an oxymoron.

Let me clarify this for you.

You are a pathetic immature idiot who has to resort to ALLEGATIONS to "prove" your point.

There, is my position clear enough for you?

Sexual predators always get caught...just ask the Bishop in Boston.
Again, no facts, just allegations and FUD. Like I said, you are a pathetic immature idiot.
New Really?
Cool.

Thanks.

New Not about Lewinsky
you arrogant ass.

Its about the 6 separate cases (alleged, of course) on 2 separate continents.

Thats NOT counting Monica.

Ok...one recanted and said is was consentual (Miss AK)...

One...an allegation...hard to side.

Two...coincidence...believable as a "right wing conspiricy"

Three...much stronger coincidence...could be a pattern.

Four...I'd say that this is getting problematic.

Five...ok..odds that they're all lying are starting to get pretty slim

Six...very slim indeed.

And if they'd have caught GW buying it...put him away with everyone else.

You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

[link|mailto:bepatient@aol.com|BePatient]
New Forgot the most important...
The reason I side with you. The reason I left the Democratic party. She was an unpaid intern. She was abused by a sexual predator. She was given jobs that were not taken by deserving people. She was given the quid pro quo. She is the poster child for a HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT. While good people still play apologists for this "man", and while the Democratically OWNED women's organizations were deafly silent, many of us poor working stiffs who would have been shitcanned immediately for such diversions, watched this man - the leader of the free world - a LAWYER, lie to the nation and to federal judges (again, prison for you and I). I don't know how to possibly explain that this man was STUPID and an embarrassment to not only his party, but his country, his gender, his "profession" , ad nauseum.

For the dumb fucks that still don't understand that this was not merely a puritanical inquisition, grow up. He was a poster child for the me generation of men, with all the foibles, adultery, self centeredness, liars, hypocrits... No wonder they can't see him for what he is. It would hurt them personally to be that honest about themselves...

I could be wrong...

Didn't Larry Flint do something or other to illustrate that it was a HYPOCRITICAL, puritanical inquisition?

He was a poster child for the me generation of men, with all the foibles, adultery, self centeredness, liars, hypocrits...
That's one way of putting it. Except this has been going on longer than the "me generation".

Let me put it another way, tell me ONE thing that Clinton has done that hasn't been done by a politician before.

No wonder they can't see him for what he is. It would hurt them personally to be that honest about themselves...
I think Tom Tomorrow has put it far better than I ever could.....

New This is the last one, I promise...
Nixon got caught spying on the Democrats. Well, not true, he didn't even know about it until after the fact. Big crime there. He then villified and tried to discredit his accusers by misusing his power. He finally resigned in disgrace. HE RESIGNED. Not for the break in. He resigned because he got caught trying to cover it up. I was a teenager when this happened. I never trusted Republicans because of this man. Nixon personified all that was wrong with politicians. He was a LIAR. He got caught.

Fast forward. Bill Clinton, a lawyer, gets caught doing a stupid thing. For the time being, I'll put aside the ENTIRE ISSUE OF HER BEING AN UNPAID INTERN NEARLY 30 YEARS YOUNGER AND HIS FINDING HER JOBS USING HIS POSITION AS PRESIDENT THEREBY DISCREDITING THE CONCEPTS OF A HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT, ETC..., and just talk about how he was a LIAR. He lied to me and you (A BLOW JOB COUNTS AS SEX, ASK YOUR WIFE!), he lied to a federal judge (or if you prefer, he intentionally mislead)... He even parsed the word "is" in front of a judge, for Christ's sake. HE COVERED IT UP. HE LIED. Now you can see why I have a little trouble understanding how I actually respect Nixon more than Clinton... At least Nixon had the decency for the republic to resign.

I'll compare him to one more stellar American for my last point. Remember Jimmy Swaggart, the preacher caught with a prostitute? Remember his "I have sinned" with all the crying... At least Swaggart paid the women... Did you defend him too?

I honestly believe that this is a problem with America coming to terms with who they really are. Clinton, the first baby boomer President, actually was just like us... It hurts, don't it.
Just a few thoughts,

New That was my point.
From my post:
Let me put it another way, tell me ONE thing that Clinton has done that hasn't been done by a politician before.
You say he lied and that was the bad thing. He lied to the entire nation.

I honestly believe that this is a problem with America coming to terms with who they really are. Clinton, the first baby boomer President, actually was just like us... It hurts, don't it.
It doesn't hurt me. I've learned that most people would react just like Clinton did. Which is why the public wasn't as outraged as Starr thought they'd be.

At least Swaggart paid the women... Did you defend him too?
I'm not defending Clinton. I'm pointing out that he didn't do anything NEW! Everything he did has BEEN DONE BEFORE.

...ENTIRE ISSUE OF HER BEING AN UNPAID INTERN NEARLY 30 YEARS YOUNGER...

...(A BLOW JOB COUNTS AS SEX, ASK YOUR WIFE!)...

At least Swaggart paid the women...

Like I've said before. It's about sex. Which is why Flynt was so successful against any Republican's trying to hang Clinton.

They were both adults and they were both willing.

And that is why Clinton got away with it. The vast majority were tittilated by the reports, but it was the stuff of comic routines and barroom jokes. No one >CARED<.
New Re: You're partially right.

Signing the prosecution papers for a Federal sexual harassment case while getting his hose honked by Monica under the desk.

Acting as the existential definition of "sexual harassment" while weaseling along about how "woman-friendly" his administration was. Oh, and graciously accepting the kudoes of the (supposedly) feminist organizations, every one of which would have killed and buried any non-Democrat found in a similar position.

Regards,
Ric
New Isn't this the same woman who said ...
She was taking her presidential kneepads with her to the whitehouse? Just who was the predator here?
With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New Problems with your characterization.
Was there sleaze? Of course. Was Clinton the 'predator' or was Lewinsky ?? You are doubtless aware of the countless factoids which entertained the Nation endlessly. Was this any more admirable than its daily replay in countless exec. suites? Rhetorical Q. Leave the 'Democrat' party? Why not sever all ties with bizness, then (?)

This was no ingenue seduced by the Big Bad Predator! - this was someone merely demonstrating one more time - as with Dr. Kissinger and a FUCK of a lot of others: power is an aphrodisiac !!
(especially in a nation still Puritan-obsessed about every natural function from excretion to copulation to death and dying). This was one horny pair of similar emotional age - and with legions for company (check out yer Tee Vee sitcoms).

If you want to draw the parallel of Clinton's behavior to some National Average: no argument there! We *ARE* a nation of adolescents esp. as regards anatomy and sex: little boys rarely become adult men - especially in That area - but just older little boys. And it shows. Just notice the Boobs fascination and the double standard as has never gone away: He's a normal randy guy. She's a slut. We are a nation which sees no distinction between the erotic and the pornographic! but our pop theology sees much that is pleasurable as Wrong. While doing it anyway. Schizo.
QED yet?

That Circus was about showing one group of hypocrites (the oft-randy Senators) attempting to Politically Assassinate: a President who was elected TWICE; an effort to remove him despite the decision of the (remaining, small) voting population. It was (both) all about sexual aberration as the Norm in Murica + Political hypocrisy being the Norm in Murica.. nothing more profound than that.

Oh.. AND: it was about Muricans' fav pastime, whether re the OJ Circus or this one - voyeurism. aka "living vicariously Other's lives" (maybe cause one's own is so dull?). Again, check the popularity of Soap Operas for verification.

Nixon resigned because, via his own intransigence and hubris (even He could see that, finally) he had backed himself into a corner from which he was inextirpable :-\ufffd It had nothing (little?) to do with a capitalized-Integrity - can you even have that, if you are as psych. wounded as later we saw: he had been (?)

Sorry but.. Bill C's sexual immaturity, his self-indulgence (however odious, taken in isolation) is a Murican Norm, esp. for folks of his generation: the most self-indulgent Me-Me-Mes Ever! As Brandioch mentioned - THAT's why the mass response was ... Ho ... Hum, another witch-hunt. Oooh let's watch these phony congresscritters in full bombast about crap they often do, making consummate Asses of selves. We watched. They did.

Ashton
New Nah! Maybe it was that way for you.
I didn't then and don't now care if Clinton had sex with O.J.

My problem was Clinton saying "I didn't have sexual relations with that woman. Ms. Lewinsky" to the public and even more so to the courts. This is the president, for crying out loud. The chief law officer of the land committing perjury!

All he had to say was "Yeah, so?" and I would have simply continued to count the days left to his presidency.

Let's start from the beginning. You post allegations. I say that posting allegations is stupid and I show you this by posting allegations about Bush. You go off on some weird tangent and I clarify that what you posted WERE ALLEGATIONS 'CAUSE HE WAS NEVER CONVICTED.

But this is too involved for you and you lose my original point. That posting allegations is stupid as anyone can post ANYTHING about someone because allegations do not have to be true.

And you continue to act like a 3 year old with this post...and the one above.
Hey, if you're going to base your position on allegations then.................

He could have said that instead of removing the Taliban from power and chasing the terrorists wherever we hide, we ought to just consult with people and humbly ask permission to demand an apology, or something. Maybe even a UN resolution.

Now that would've been a boner. Be glad he didn't say anyhting that stupid.
