New Re: I have one (YOPY that is)

How does YOPY compare size wise to other ?

It looks very high quality (like Sony) whereas the Cassopia looks 'tinny'

Cheers

New size...
The YOPY is a good bit smaller and lighter than
the Palm, Pocket PC, and the Sharp. It weighs
in at 5 oz. My only complaints are the lack of
contrast control and some printing issues with
the desktop control center component. YOPY
customer service has been great though and
they expect to fix the contrast and printing
issues shortly. And,yes, the YOPY is very
high quality. I'm going to try porting some
apps to the YOPY via G.Mate's YDK.

Did you check out their developer site?
New Re: GMate dev site
Have been visiting it for past 12 months but not much since the redesigned the YOPY.

I have been following some of the problems reported (USB failing etc:).

Knowing Samsung I anticipated the YOPY would be a very attractive unit. I used to visit Samsung in Korea when doing business with them for IBM (early 1990s).

Very impressive company.

Cheers - Doug

PS I see that the 1GB IBM microdrive works in the YOPY

I guess there will be a bluetooth card too soon. That will enable the YOPY to do wireless internet via a mobile phone - I haven't seen any GSM phone modules listed as available, just a couple of modems.

What part of "gestalt" don't you understand?
New Re: ...Why (& what ?) ... Bluetooth seems to be spreading ?

Just bought an Ericsson T68 with Bluetooth & IRd just to try it out (am in the telecom Internet business).

Seems that YOPY at 5oz & with a bluetooth card, doesn't need a phone or modem as it is abundantly clear to me that if I can have a tiny phone that 'talks' to my PDA when I want to access Internet & that PDA runs Linux & can harness the free software movement (I just started looking at GNUMETRIC etc: for YOPY) - seems that an integrated phone may not be what everone wants - reason I am trying so many of these devices is that I may have to prove my worth to my employer re directions we move in.

YOPY is 2/3 rds the price of Cassopia - looks better, is more elegant & the software 'appears' thus far to match WinCE2002.

Cheers

Doug
