New Re: Outlook Annoyances
Outlook 2003 is somewhat better, but still has a fair amount of suck to it, plus the new "Luna" UI, which is a whole new realm of suck. Did I mention it's almost impossible to read Outlook anymore in anything but the default Luna/Blue configuration? Besides the aformentioned Spambayes, you also need to install Lookout - it's an indexed search tool that does the job quite nicely, and works in O2k, O2k2, and O2k3.

Viewing message headers is nigh-on impossible. Well, that's not entirely true. One can see the internet headers of an RFC822 message by visiting the View->Options menu item that's only available when you have the message open in its own window. Viewing the source of an HTML message appears to be flat-out impossible.

You can also right click on the message in the list view and select Options to get that same window. But yeah, that is the suck.

New Outlook Search Solution
I use Google Desktop Search.

Roxxor, it is.

New Does it search .PDFs yet? :-(
New No. >:(
Itried the Copernic desktop thing, but was struck by its KDEesque AAH!TOOMUCHINTERFACE! approach.

Didn't like it. One little bit.

Google's "just enough interface to do the job" approach sits with me MUCH better.

New Google Desktop Search is no longer beta.
Google Desktop Search apparently does .PDF searches now. I haven't yet tried it myself.

Cheers,
Scott.
New it does!
And it indexes Firefox's history! And Thunderbird mail! And MP3s!

Woo! Yay!
