New My $10 book suggestion...
...for people who want to dip a toe into the water with the minimum of expenditure:

The Mac Is Not A Typewriter, by Robin Williams.

She has subsequently written a PC version, so there‘s little excuse for not reading it. In any event, neither volume is particular operating system-dependent.

New Yeah it's true
The one I suggested is not a cheap book. OTOH, it is an excellent one.
