New another review of Fahrenheit 9/11
Saw it today. 2:30 pm and Place 2/3 Full (they had a second cubicle-copy which began at 3:00).

It's not presented as a "documentary" (WTF that might mean to about 100 different people). As Ross explains, it's a fucking polemic and that means of presenting a POV is as old and as respectable as Tom Paine.. and for that matter: Luther.

Pity that Moore's personna ain't nowhere as pretty as the young Lenie Riefenstahl; her task was to weave a myth throughout the aching Achilles tendons of all those buff bodies - selling, basically Die Wunderbar auf Der Deutscher Volk [never mind any litmus test of Official Jew-baiting as an acceptable recreation - or Der F\ufffdhrer walking out, while Jesse Owens cleaned his klockenwerke; the blonde blue-eyed ones left behind by a sub-human].

Moore Got It.. Got Leni! | Must have seen all her masterpieces: how to demonstrate the substance.. the *root source* of perhaps the greatest-ever polarization in our '04 (partial, part-time) 'electorate' -- fershure in my lifetime. Some say, "since Lincoln's reelection".

A review of this opus by the WeeklyStandard == WilliamKristol.. smarming about 'objectivity' is like My Gramma complaining that the Hollywood Ten weren't executed by HUAC, and that the Rosenburgs should have been drawn & quartered First, then burned.

I've *seen* Mr K "debate", er dissemble with smarl (and watched his face; it has the same sorta manic tic that Cheney has, whenever he speaks some latest fear-mongering catchphrase - I suspect in both cases: Animatronics run on Windows 3.11, the DRDOS-proof version. On an 8088 with a bad mem chip.)

Heard from a friend, most-often accurate quoter-of-news numbers and such: that this film raked in more $$, with quite fewer theatres showing it, than all other? any other? current releases; it seems that the Disney/Loral/Halliburton axis hasn't been effective-enough in lobbying individual theatre owners .. to achieve their desired goal. Guess I'll have to look for wherever these Holy Numbers are generated. $$==Good, like IQ, in these parts.

No name-calling nor jeering (other than the occasional groan at the close-ups of a mind running on empty, at critical moments). Some cheering at other moments. Mostly older folk (at 2PM, natch). Sustained loud applause at end. All civil. Alas, didn't try to overhear comments of the exitees; distracted.

(When I went into john afterwards, announced.."it's been a pleasure seeing this with all you Commie Pinko unPatriotic folks" .. hastily adding, JUST KIDDING! .. this brought some wide beams from the 6-8 fellow bladder-draining insurgents. [free Pop-psych data, here])

Maybe the audience-mix / behaviour is different in the huge cities - this was bucolic Santa Rosa CA.

Go see the sucker, sucker. No 're-view', especially the one you picked [Among All Those Others] will suffice, in lieu. See if *you* can pick out an abject *lie* and by all means, Share it with us dupes. (I know you need encouragement in such matters)

3040 Hours and Counting

Edit - fix 'Leni'

New Made approx. 22 million this weekend as top-grossing movie
Pretty impressive, for two reasons:

- The no. 2 film ("White Chicks") opened on 3000 screens versus F9/11 on 800.
- The second highest grossing documentary of all time ("Bowling for Columbine") took ten weeks to get to the kind of money this film made in its first weekend.

We'll see how it fares against Spiderman 2 (opening Wed. 06/30) but in a world where artistic worth is measured in $$ (as Ash would say), Michael must be quite the artist.

"While I'm still confused and uncertain, it's on a much higher plane, d'you
see, and at least I know I'm bewildered about the really fundamental and
important facts of the universe."
Treatle nodded. "I hadn't looked at it like that," he said, "But you're
absolutely right. He's really pushed back the boundaries of ignorance."
