The opening of the U.N. session gives you leverage for concessions from President Bush in exchange for a resolution blessing international help in Iraq.
Given the toll -- in money and men -- that the postwar period there is taking on the United States, he has asked for help from those who were unwilling to help topple Saddam Hussein.
As the leader of the pre-war effort to deny U.N. certification for that war, you can be forgiven for smirking. You did predict a messier postwar cleanup than Bush expected.
Bzzt. Wrong-oh.
France predicted that the action would be 'messier' than expected. They ALSO predicted that Saddam DIDN'T have weapons of mass destruction and [link|http://www.spacewar.com/2003/030411192507.l8bewe7z.html| peaceful methods of disarming Iraq were successful].
Alas, we STILL haven't found any evidence of a nuclear weepons program. In fact, we haven't found much evidence of WMD period.
That would (ahem) seem to indicate that (cough) they were right.
Certainly Americans are asking about those plants that Bush pointed in his speeches - asking what state they're in. Certainly we're asking about those Aluminum Tubes and what they were used for. Certainly we know that Kay's report is coming out this month.
Right?
