New [cackle]____tit for twit
New Ah, the trusty old tu quoque slander.
Always handy when you're cornered, and you want to go out without any style or grace.

Be very careful with tu quoque. It could lead to infinite regress. And remember, folks: truth is on *my* side. So I've got better ammo.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Somebody do something about the looting in the UN cafeteria!
It's more than just a military success.
Victory was the answer - to a great many problems.
When the facts speak for themselves, only a fool insists on having a debate.
The future is leaving the station, the US is at the throttle, and the Left isn't on board.

New You keep repeating that...
...like you don't quite believe it yourself.

And remember, folks: truth is on *my* side.

Guess you're a big proponent of the "big lie" theory - keep repeating something long enough, and maybe people will start to believe it.
After 9/11, Bush made two statements:
1. "Terrorists hate America because America is a land of freedom and opportunity."
2. "We intend to attack the root causes of terrorism."

Sounds like everything is going according to plan.
New "Truth is on my side" - an exact equivalent of,
"Look, I'm Honest"

But these niceties escape those in the throes of True-Believer cant.
When you can't even grok the basics of actual communication -

Maybe in another few decades - for you.
(If they let you live that long)
New It ain't slander if it's true
And I've seen very, very little that can be classified as "truth" in your posts here, Marlowe, unless you have redefined "truth" to mean "links to either factless rhetorical propaganda or shady hacks that are invariably discredited within a week, as long as I also insult another ziwethey user for no reason or for a fake reason that I just made up on the spot".

The tu quoque seems a proper response to an ad hominem. It was good enough for Jesus, after all (splinter in my eye versus board in yours and all that). Of course, you and your ilk turn your back on and condemn everything that Jesus Christ ever preached, so such ad verecundiam is wasted on you.
New Only on your planet.
Not here on Earth. Too bad you people haven't the moral courage to join me.

I'm gonna keep up the pressure and watch you spinners deniers and Big Lie-ers squirm and squeal. It's just gonna keep coming. More links to eyewitness accounts. More reports from reliable sources. More debunking of lies. More ridicule of hysterics. You can't escape. You can only decide to face it, or continue to suffer.

And it's not just me. This whole country is waking up. It's going to get harder and harder to find an enclave where you don't get the truth rubbed in your face about how wrong you were all along, and how stupid and childish you look now. You'll have to hole up in Frisco, build barricades, wrap your heads in tinfoil and censor the Internet feed. Your only concept of the outside world or your own past will come from public school textbooks and old Indymedia archives. "Someday man will walk on the moon, and oppress the helpless noble Mooninites!" Soon you'll be molesting your kids and waiting for a spaceship behind a comet to take you all to a socialist worker's paradise.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will slap this silly planet into shape. Then we'll pave the Bay area for a parking lot and put you all in zoos.

New Mobs + torches + marlowe - Dante's 11th Level.
Dream on, Gramma. And worry.. worry a lot with the other Nintendo-Eloi.. about those with an actual life, impervious to the sophomoric fusillades of groupthink, inured to the fulminations of the terrified, impoverished (thus ever nasty) digital mind.

The Murican Peepul want . . . marlowe!

Ahh..
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha [!!!]
New Is m's bipolar cycle on the ->grandeur arc?
I've only been participating here for five months, so I wonder whether marlowe's recent tone strike anyone else as odd, or whether it's been seen before? I refer specifically to the messianic note that's crept into his recent pronouncements (over and above, I mean, his usual claims to be privy to the truth, and to be smarter than anyone else in the room) such as:
I'm after discrediting you before future generations.

there are countless...other marlowes...all on the job, and you can't stop us.

I'm gonna keep up the pressure and watch you spinners deniers and Big Lie-ers squirm and squeal

You can't escape

we'll pave the Bay area for a parking lot and put you all in zoos
He would appear to be, in his own mind, at least, a man on a mission, and seems to put great store in being part of an army of marlowes. I'm reminded of my old acquaintance Henry Cleveland back in 1972--the one who used to threaten me with a firing squad come the Revolution--except Henry was a bit more temperate in his rhetoric.

I'd noticed that marlowe was utterly unyielding in his exchanges, completely impervious to any contrary position, never willing to modify his own positions in the face of any response, but is this recent nakedly paranoid note something new, or is he simply rising along the manic arc of a previously established cycle?

cordially,
"Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist."
New Re: Is m's bipolar cycle on the ->grandeur arc?
As I mentioned, this worm is part of a collective - the right wingers are pernicious radical collectivist statists, like his Repo comrades, not different in any essential way than the red hordes that terrorized the Russian citizens. I'd say this worm is like Strelnikov in Dr. Zhivago, but he's too much of a spineless wimp to dishoner the honorless by the comparison, be they ever so fictional.

Something happened to him. He used to be a mere advocate for his worthless cause before you arrived. He's gone over some kind of edge in the last years.

What he REALLY is - a classic narcissist. By responding to him, we only provide more narcissistic supply for him to feed on. So, we should simply ignore him and let him turn black and attract fruit flies, like an uneaten banana.

New AS best as I can determine

M fits certain clinical definitions of behavior that got fought over in this very forum a few weeks back.

But what I find M does for me, is to remind me that such people really do exist, and are not pretending, are willing to stand up naked before the world to argue how fine their clothes are, and who clearly believe all what 'spew' forth. Kind of an eternal vomiting.

One must live such a wonderful life knowing that God truly is on one's side & is proud of the work one does in the cause of righteousness & justice. And knowing that the others around one are nearly all empty spectres with no insights.

I wonder if there is a medical condition called 'raptures of the deep' that relates to depth submersed in the air rather than in water ? - could be the basis for a medical paper. We have the study candidate.

New 'Causality' appears to be among our larger misperceptions
That is - beyond a contrived 'two-body problem' in physics, say - it is a chimera and, like the comment of Einstein -
As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality.
most often the combination of known/unknown/mis-weighted effects is simply astronomical: for the seeming simplest 'result'. And when talking of the soft-as-cheese arts of Psych (!) IMhO Jung had the idea of scale pretty well down. The others simply had intricately embroidered models and a gift for gab. Everybody's gotta have his own pet model yada. Gets tenure. Then Power.

So as to 'what makes a marlowe' / My Gramma -?- it's usually an unproductive bug-hunt. The ever-popular 'lackofselfesteem' early on? A peculiar knack for pissing off one's peers from the first? [buried resentment forever] Or simply -- YAN of the countless ways in which fear manifests, is rationalized away (blame all those Others, the untermensch) -- then one seeks out the faux-comfort of other fearful==angry ones. Columbine, anyone? Hypatia died from a similar mob.

As to this specimen's current flavour of expanding megalomania? EZ: The Yahoos are currently at the trigger; his little band of brooders - being literal, thinks only of 'Winning'. With guns, natch. [Hell: Take It All!] Being ignorant (and actively resistant to alleviation): confuses a shoo-in Victory of Godzilla over Bambi with.. Righteousness.

So of course, such a juvenile must gloat over this God-given Sign of farRightfulness. Invoking the broodership's comforting faux presence - now he can lecture us all upon the foolishness of trying to resist his mob of moral marauders.

Hey, kids do this crap all the time - part of the symbolic killing off of the parents, remember? Those pesky adults.. insisting upon repecting others, not just your own little clique; tryin to instill a certain empathy for the less fortunate, and all. Hah! The Nike-Eloi are into Just Do It (and all those cute diss-slogans, wherein everybody Else is some kinda nigger.)

WTF - our very own Abnormal Psych experiment, and we don't even have to pay the model for posing!

Good Capitalist Deal, no?

New Still open to discussion
..but your point is well-taken.

We really don't know if causality is wrong. Even QFT has a built-in form of causality, in the form of commutators of fields at spacelike separation.
-drl
New Physicswise
I've tended to the comparison with (whatever we think we know about) the 'Arrow of Time'. It seems as reasonable as it is intuitive [Yeah.. I know..] that causality is at least as useful an idea as are Newton's laws.. for mere astrophysical navigation, nearby.

But we are speaking here of the axiomatic closed-System, aren't we? Physics must deal with at least some umm encapsulation.. into a field of references. I doubt that we disagree at this level -- except that you know much more about the entire topic than I (!) (Yes, I think I sorta grokked some of your what-ifs a while back.. re "conservation of energy" -- and what we might suppose next, if we supended that a little bit.)

Where I find causality to interfere with proper reasoning (and esp. Reasoning) - is when we attempt to apply it to human events, all of which actually take place within the individual or collective wetware. There is no possibility of circumscribing That 'field of reference'. IMhO. Maybe above is a prime example: "the 'cause' of criminal mentation" / or criminally inhuman mentation? say. A most unsatisfying pursuit.

New What fucking delusion is this you're living under, exactly??
"Marlowe" reports in from *his* planet:
Not here on Earth. Too bad you people haven't the moral courage to join me.
What?!?

Blood-thirsty war-mongering, vulgar rah-rah "patriotism" (of a kind that would probably make real American patriots like Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin vomit), and totally un-critically accepting the blatant propaganda of your own "regime" -- the *farthest you can get* from anything like rebellion against those in power -- is somehow indicative of *courage* ??? How the fuck do you reckon that?

[Edit:] Two weeks have gone; still no answer from "courageous" Philly-boy.

I'm gonna keep up the pressure and watch you spinners deniers and Big Lie-ers squirm and squeal.
Would that be "spinners" that "squirm and squeal" as in "We're fighting to avenge 9/11! ... Uh, that is, we're fighting to remove Saddam's nukes! ... Uh, that is, we're fighting to complete what WE decided not to do in '91... Uh, that is, we're fighting to Liberate the Iraqis!"; would those be "deniers and Big Lie-ers" as in "He's got Weapons of Mass Destruction! We just know it, and we're going to show them to you as soon as we take Baghdad! Meanwhile, see this thoroughly prepared analysis by our legions of spies and military strategists... which just happens to be pretty much identical to a treatise by some undergrad that we pulled off the 'Net.", or what? I mean, what the fuck... What "spinning and denying and Big Lying" *is* there, that comes even *close* to this?!?

It's just gonna keep coming. More links to eyewitness accounts. More reports from reliable sources. More debunking of lies. More ridicule of hysterics. You can't escape. You can only decide to face it, or continue to suffer.
You've lost all contact with planet Earth, haven't you?

And it's not just me. This whole country is waking up. It's going to get harder and harder to find an enclave where you don't get the truth rubbed in your face about how wrong you were all along, and how stupid and childish you look now. You'll have to hole up in Frisco, build barricades, wrap your heads in tinfoil and censor the Internet feed.
So, you're basically saying everyone else agrees with you...

And you don't even *notice* that this means, equally, that you agree with everyone else -- or are you really whacko enough to think that agreeing with everyone else is somehow the "courageous" stand to take?!? Which is it?

Soon you'll be molesting your kids and waiting for a spaceship behind a comet to take you all to a socialist worker's paradise.
Judging from the grip on reality you've demonstrated so far, I'm more worried about you in these respects. (Heck, on the "molesting your kids" thing, I can see you being into that already.)

Your lies are of Microsoftian Scale and boring to boot. Your 'depression' may be the closest you ever come to recognizing truth: you have no 'inferiority complex', you are inferior - and something inside you recognizes this. - [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=71575|Ashton Brown]
