US battles calls for emergency UN session on Iraq

General Assembly to condemn the U.S.-led war on Iraq, diplomats said on Friday. Why? Don't we have a "Coalition of the Willing"? It will be VERY interesting to see what happens if such a resolution is voted upon. It's kind of hard to claim "support" for your cause when you have to VETO a UN resolution condemning it.

The US should tell the UN to F*** OFF. The UN has shown its utter lack of teeth; unless it pulls a rabbit out of its hat, it'll become irrelevant.

Why did the US refuse to put its resolution up for a vote? Why is the US fighting the meeting? :) The UN has shown its utter lack of teeth; unless it pulls a rabbit out of its hat, it'll become irrelevant. Ah, the old, "if it ain't military force, it ain't important". Well, the world is a little bit more complicated than that. The UN cannot stop the US from invading a defeated country. But that war will not last forever. Eventually, the US will have to trade with the rest of the world.

#1. Iraq was NOT talking about INVADING any other country.
#2. Turkey IS talking about INVADING another country.
#3. You (Scott) do NOT understand the difference between not invading and invading.
#4. An INVASION needs to be met with MILITARY force.
#5. You (Scott) are still operating under the false impression that Iraq was attacking another country.

I could care less about the UN. The UN is an attempt to create a world government, and make all countries subject to it.
Sorry, there are lots of countries in the world, and all have different agendas and the UN simply doesn't work like the League of Nations didn't work in the early 20th century.
We were fools for joining after WWII.
I'm sorry, but we live in a dark world ruled by evil, greedy people who lead nations with lots of guns, and bombs, and tanks, and ships, and planes. Each country has it's own agenda determined by the preferences of it's leadership.
The UN attempts to get nations to all agree to similar rules and protocols, but it only works about 10-20 years, then the agendas of the nations diverge and the UN breaks up.
Sorry, but the UN works only as long as everyone wants to play along.
