New You'd better check your facts.
The "world" isn't coming around.

Look at the huge protests.

But the people in the governments can be bought.

The problem is, keeping them bought until we invade.

Otherwise, you have to buy them again.
New So the "world" is all protesting?
Add up the protests to get...oh...1.5 million people...and...what's the world population?

Must be your own form of propoganda.

Look...there's a gang over there bitching about not being able to smoke in restaurants. Must mean THE WORLD wants to smoke in restaurants.

You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New So, compare it to the number of people...
demonstrating *for* war.

Perhaps the rest of the people don't know or care or aren't allowed to express their deeply held convictions.

I'll be looking for pickets with "Annihilate Iraq Now!" signs.

New while numbers weren't listed
the Houston Chronicle's lead-in photo for the protest story was of the people protesting the protestors.

Makes me wonder - do those counts of millions include or exclude those protesting in support of the war...

New Excuse me?
We have somebody offended by "equal coverage" without actually giving any details of how much coverage one side received versus the other.

I didn't see "equal coverage" here...and there were pro-action marchers here. The major networks were certainly not giving "equal coverage" of pro-war demonstrators either.

This demonstrates how easy it is to put up a web page and bitch about something.

It proves zero.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

[link|mailto:bepatient@aol.com|BePatient]
New I'd like to see that.
It proves zero.

From a math point of view, that could be interesting.

<snicker>

Moving along from the horrible joke above-

Including the pro-war prostestors surely wouldn't affect the rounding error would it?

New 1.5 million total protestors.
You must be getting those numbers from that damn librul media again. Only US outlets have numbers that low. Most foreign press puts the protests in London *alone* at 1.5 mil. Totals range from the anemic US corporate media estimate of 1.5 to 8 million+ reported buy less bought-and-paid-for analysts.

Many cities report they had the largest public gathering in their entire history. Note: I did not say "largest protest march"
How many lives per gallon?
--Sign outside of various churches
New So it was 8 million.
Still a rounding error compared to world population.

That was the point.

You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New Figures
Dimiss the "largest gathering in history" of many cites/nations as a *rounding* error.

Were the worldwide shows of support after 9/11 rounding errors also?

A little recent [link|http://www.mediahorse.com/history.htm|history] for you. (requires flash)
How many lives per gallon?

New No...you continue to miss the point.
People protested. Quite a few of them. In some places...it was very impressive.

This does NOT equate to "the world" backing a position...or "the world" not supporting a war. This equates to however many protesters there were feeling compelled to voice their opinion.

Point...in case you feel inclined to miss it again...one cannot say "the world supports x" based on this. It would not be accepted in kind by the original poster (or a multitude of others here) much the same as I was asked to supply a poll backing my assertion...then did supply that poll...and all of a sudden..."well they didn't ask the question right"...etc...ad nauseum.

So...how about you stop knee-jerk reacting to statements and follow the bouncing ball?

(PS...the link you provided also requires a hefty download in addition to flash...and...no agenda there at all, eh?)
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New You point was unsubtle. I got it.
A part of the whole does not equal the whole. As that is rather self evident, I thought I would speak to something else in your post.

I was commenting on your typically dismissive attitude to the protests/protestors.
How many lives per gallon?
--Sign outside of various churches
New Not dismissive.
I was actually rather impressed. Its quite an organizational accomplishment to stage that many protests in that many locations and get that kind of a turnout.

You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New My apologies then.
I really am trying to keep the reflexive jerking of my knee under control.

:)

New Not necessary.
But thanks.

Now let me go hide that little rubber tipped mallet I've been using on you ;-)

New We had a guy from England in the office last week.
I asked him if Blair is apt to lose the next election because of anit-war mood in Britain. His answert was - the press is hysteric, but the ordinary people he knows don't quite care about Saddam one way or another.

Just another data point.

We have only 2 things to worry about: That
things will never get back to normal, and that they already have.
