We are in the theater that is an enormous room that is two decks. Deck four and five. The comedian has to pause when the announcements come over.
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! They do this in two sets of three. Then they announce a specific location on deck. 5.
The comedian comments that someone probably took a s*** on deck 5 and someone needs to go clean it up. But that's not the reality.
The announcements interrupt him multiple times. This is not normal. The show ends and we start to filter out. Then we get halted. Go no further. There is a fire out there. Is this a real fire? No, we will be fine.
We are crushed. People start screaming about dying in the cold Alaskan waters. Parents have to control their semi-adult children. The panic starts and people get slapped down.
I say to M: I can't handle the crowd. I will meet you on the other side. I start wheeling away. I crossed the boat in about 30 seconds because I am much much faster than anybody else. And then I see the panicked crew members running against me. They're running towards the fire. I see people grabbing life jackets. And M is on that side and when we go down I might not be with her. So I flip around.
I launch hard. Knee on the wheelie foot on the ground and push as hard as I can. The massive steel doors that separate the parts of the ship start to slam down. I am pushing at about 30 miles an hour and I fly underneath it right before it closes. M sees me fly across. She said she wasn't worried about me. I'm a survivor. But I was worried about her because she's not.
We were corralled to a bar to sit there and listen to announcements for every 5 minutes. Nothing to see here, don't worry, will handle it. And I thought about the band played on in the Titanic. The piano player just wandered the area to tell everyone the bar's open and you should go drink some more. They close off the area of the lifeboats. That's where the fire was.
About an hour later they let us go. I am never going on a ship again, at least not in cold waters. I won't fly again. I have to find a ship that leaves from Seattle and goes south. If I'm ever going on a ship again. M can meet her family and go do ship stuff but not me. Never again.
