New Off the shelf vs DIY
The best tutorial I've seen is this one: https://www.instructables.com/DIY-Smart-Home-Automation/

The closest I've seen to buy it is this: https://www.control4.com/solutions/products/wireless-keypads
(They also have the smart lights and the base unit.) Pricey, and doesn't use tablets but rather configurable pads.

I suspect most consumers don't want the uber-flexible controller, so if that's a must-have then I think you're going to need to build it.

New Interesting
The commercial option is one of those that if you have to ask you can't afford it. No prices listed, call them and engage your project manager. A project manager?
New Ayup
When we were first married Jenn did network installs. Mostly commercial, but a couple residential that included home theater, security, and lighting. Those were big $$$ places on the lake. At least one of them, the work they did would have bought my house.

You would think that with Bluetooth and wifi things would be more plug and play by now but there just aren't enough people who really care. "I walk into the room and flip the switch. Why should I pay $20 for a lightbulb that I have to use my phone to turn it on?"

I like when things catch fire and explode, which means I do not have your best interests in mind.
