I have vague recollections of reading threads about the heat in the i5 versions - there may be some tricks you can do. Search around.
I assume you've seen this teardown of the Dell Mini 9. http://www.mydellmin...bly-pictures.html I haven't read it carefully, but someone there mentions using a cheap plastic ruler along the way, and being careful about a couple of screws for the touchpad.

And enjoy your Mac Mini! The only continuing annoyance with ours is it is a little temperamental about having too many USB devices attached. E.g. the mouse will get sticky and jerky if I use certain hubs with it (even if the hubs are self-powered). I just need to spend more time trying various hub options, I think...
