Welcome to IWETHEY!

New circling the drain
The Auld Dog appears to have lost the ability to stand up today. I think we must needs summon Dr. Dogvorkian for a house call tomorrow. Dog appears demoralized, resigned. Well, he had sixteen good years, one tolerable year, and ten months gradually less fun for him, with his last tottering but savored excursion outside just yesterday. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
New I'm sorry. :-( He had a great long life.
New Sorry to hear it, Rand.
Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But...there they are.
New Condolences, Rand.
That's a long good life though.
Regards,
-scott
Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New Sorry to hear that

New oh man, its time :-(

New Concerns and condolences to you.
Pets^W4 legged members of the family are tough to see go!
New I wish they were permanent
Nothing is.

But the light he shone on your life will go on as long as you do.

I think it's perfectly clear we're in the wrong band.
(Tori Amos)
New Condolences, Rand.
He lived a good long life and was obviously deeply loved. Something we all should have in the dash.

Peace.
New Sorry to hear, thoughts sent your way.
-Mike

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 Historical Review of Pennsylvania
New Very sorry, Rand
That last favor you do him is as good for him as it is difficult for you. You have my sympathy. Hang in.
New What is there to say?
Pets give so much and, on balance, ask for so little in return.

Wade.

Q:Is it proper to eat cheeseburgers with your fingers?
A:No, the fingers should be eaten separately.
New If you can handle it
Hand feed him whatever he loves the most, and hold him when they push the needle.

Tears are ok, don't man up, it's bullshit.
New Sorry to hear that Rand
He had a good long run.
New Once came across a small card
in an eclectic Berkeley store, nice calligraphy and all; a quote of one May Sarton (poet):

What is done with love is always more than itself and partakes of the celestial orders

Have found this koan helpful, even comforting, as the plunger is being plunged
(it may signify more about that cosmos-thing than some psyches can tolerate; that's OK with me, since nobody knows fershure much about reality.)

Candles, etc.
New Condolences. Our thoughts are with you.
New dog-not-yet-gonnit
Dr. Dogvorkian, consulted, said: see how he's doing in the morning. And lo, come the morning the creature was miraculously ambulatory again—from the looks of him the other night I'd have sworn he had just hours to live—and is tottering around today, although his appetite is poor. I defer to the spousette, who first undertook doggums' care and feeding in 1993, as to when to pull the plug. At the moment the creature seems to have climbed back up to the "Boss! I can do this!" stance. I won't trouble this forum with further developments until the inevitable last.

cordially,
New NO NO NO!
We like these updates on how he is doing. Good or bad!

We all have 4 legged member of the family and understand!

Glad the HUND is slugging it out.
New yup, if he isnt due for his .22 we are interested

New Very sorry
We had a hard enough time having to put to sleep an adopted rescue after less than a year. I can only imagine what you are going through.
New condolences
This is a learning experience since someday I too will be in the same situation.

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from."

-- E.L. Doctorow
New Gee, that's tough
Sorry to hear, Rand...

"No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT...there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not completely rule out flying reindeer.

Believe."
