I gather from his email
...that he feels IWT to have strayed from its tech roots into realms of touchie-feelie psychobabble, and that the fat-to-meat ratio has tilted to the other side of his liking. Understand that I paraphrase here from his terse communiqué. Presumably if and when the technical side is addressed with acceptable density we will hear the voice of the tall Englishman in these parts again.

So . . . (and a sentient LRPD)
"They are no longer just like me. I shall punish them by my absence!"
And the sentient LRPD as I selected to add this comment -
"Those bastards".
Perhaps our English friend will someday realize that in the long view, techie stuff, expensive cars and racing airplanes really hold very little meaning.

See, he doesn't even need to be here.
The LRPDs are filling in for him - they know just what to say.

Yeah, I too think that must have been the proverbial straw.
With a special bonus helping of guilt for me, seeing as how betrayed he must have felt by (t)his fellow Old-Sk^H^HWorld Grammar Nazi. :-(

Yeah, but...
That thread seemed strange to me at the time. Being an editor at K5 for ages, I'm sure he's encountered worse butchery of English on many occasions. (But it looks like he left K5 in January.) I was expecting it to be a one-off - "This is annoying me!" - post. I assumed more was going on behind the surface when it dragged on... :-(
Oh well. Life's too short to hang around places that cause one to feel annoyed. With luck, he'll be back.
Peter's a big boy. Don't feel that you helped drive him away. :-)

There is something going on to which we aren't privy.
I wish him better days and hope someday he will return with his humor intact.

Let this be a warning to other tech discussion groups.
You start letting women into your group the guys start losing interest in talking tech. It's extremely viral - just one or two is enough, three and tech talk will fade out in a matter of weeks.
My advice - if you have a tech discussion group, find some women. Volunteers are best, but I know some of you techies out there will have to pay - but it's still worth it.
Of course this is a little hard on those who think logic has important meaning, but hey, they brought it on themselves.

It's amazing what a couple of wimmen can accomplish.
Golly, with over 1000 registered names, you'd think somebody would pick up the techie slack!
Now, on with our regularly scheduled programming...

But, hey....
....some of us are women and techie, too. Thus, the law of "all" does not really apply. Still, the dynamics of the commentary are understood and appreciated.

Not at all . . . .
. . though they most certainly can be.
Or they can be very logical based on some alternative presumptive structure.
The hard core logic addicted tend to become uncomfortable when conversation drifts into fuzzy territory. Tech talk is a reliable refuge from this sort of discomfort.
