Blah.
Went to doc to have one issue resolved, ended up having a CT of lower abdomen (doc thinks it's the colon). Don't know results yet.

Hmmm...
Crohns? IBS? Colitis? Hope things come out okay. Get it? *come out okay?*
I'm sorry.
When I started my job, my first patient I saw was in the hospital with Crohns. Not only did I have the joy of sitting 3 feet away from his fully loaded bedside commode, I also got a very descriptive account of his bowel habits for the last several days, complete with pictures on his cell phone. Yes. Pictures. "This is me in my bloody underwear" "This is my toilet" "These are the bloody, poopy towels which I used to clean myself up".
It was too much, even for me. I politely told him, I'm a social worker, not a nurse, so put that shit away.
Okay. I really didnt say exactly that... but I wanted to! RETCH!!

Gluten free beers are made . . .
. . from buckwheat, millet, and the like, but tolerance to beer with some gluten varies from person to person.
Chocolate should have none. Gluten is high in wheat, much lower in barley and rye, and absent in rice (including "glutenous rice"). Other than a few important grains, there isn't much gluten around.
On the other hand, there's plenty of coeliacs arouned, the problem is grosely underdiagnosed in the U.S..

There's always wine
A friend of mine is on a gluten-free, casein-free diet. Her son is autistic and she put him on the diet with good results. Then she tried to get pregnant again and miscarried 3x. Turns out she has some autoimmune disorder that also responds to this kind of diet. Makes one wonder if there is some kind of link. Her son's autism changed her career path and now she is the director of a local autism treatment center.
I'm rambling. Anyhoo, the point is, she's not much fun to take to dinner because of her dietary restrictions, but she can knock a few glasses of wine back with the rest of us gals. So dont despair, Amy!

I am happy
I am so glad I don't have cancer that this diagnosis is practically music to my ears. It means that I'm not dying and I'm not crazy and I can have some control over what is wrong with me.
I found out a few more things from the CT scan that need to be addressed: I have collapsed lungs and a mildly fatty liver. So, no more smoking or drinking. In other words, time to straighten up and fly right or I won't get to see my kids grow up or my grandchildren get born, etc.
My eldest son got a Zales credit card in the mail yesterday. Looks like he's gonna back up his marriage proposal to his girlfriend with a sparkler. I have no idea when the wedding will be but here we go! Gotta stay around a little while longer :-)
I'll start partying again when I'm 70 or so.
