New It rather depends on the time of day, actually.
You specified evening after work, though. So I'll go with that to start with.

If I'm feeling *really* lazy, I'll defrost a previous cooked-and-frozen meal. This could range from sausages-and-veg to spaghetti bolognaise. If I want something 'fresh', I will usually go for a San Remo pasta-for-one packet. Cooks in a saucepan in 8 minutes.

On a Sunday evening, though, the recipe changes. Then it tends to be scrambled or poached eggs on (white) toast. If scrambled, I like to throw in onion flakes and grated cheese. If poached, then the toast gets vegemited. And the yolks have to be runny. If I want a bigger version of the scrambled eggs, I put in a packet of 2-minute noodles.

Other Instant Food Events include a vegemite and cheese sandwich. Or baked beans on toast - must be Heinz, though, and in Ham Sauce. Anything else doesn't taste right.

My sister's been known to eat a bowl of cereal at night. I haven't gone that far, myself, though.

Bologna is in Italy, in case you didn't know. So why the FUCKING FUCK should a sauce from there have a FRENCH origin-denoting ending to its name?!?

Are you perhaps claiming it got spread around the world from (i.e, via) FRANCE, so everybody else adopted the "French name"(*), not knowing it's an Italian dish? That's the only theory I can come up with that would even remotely "validate" your sadly-widespread misspelling -- but I'd like to see some pretty damn convincing proof before I buy it.

Got any?




(*): If it even is called that in France itself -- which I personally very much doubt, seeing as how they're a pretty cultured people.

Did it perhaps occur to you that I typed the French spelling because that's what my memory threw up when I went to type it? Obviously I've seen it that way often enough to consider that that's the spelling of it. Obviously that bothers you.

I *know* it's an Italian sauce. That doesn't invalidate the French spelling. Besides, English has borrowed words from many languages over the centuries, many times through the other languages, including French. At any one time, either or both spelling could be considered 'correct' in English. Clearly at the moment it is swinging towards the Italian spelling. *shrug*
