[link|http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/publicat/tbfs-fitb/tb-infection_e.html|http://www.phac-aspc...-infection_e.html] A person with TB infection does not feel sick and cannot spread TB to others. snip [link|http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/publicat/tbfs-fitb/infectioustb_e.html|http://www.phac-aspc...fectioustb_e.html] People with TB disease of the lungs or vocal cords feel sick. They usually have symptoms such as a cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss and feel very tired. By the time they see a doctor, they may need to be hospitalized. snip The greatest risk of TB transmission occurs when TB bacteria are found in the person's sputum (phlegm). now the patient in question [link|http://www.njc.org/news/y2007/smear-test-3.aspx|http://www.njc.org/n...smear-test-3.aspx] Andrew Speaker learned Monday evening that his third consecutive sputum smear test had come back negative. This confirmed results from several smear tests previously performed at other institutions. == not infectious. You have better chances of hitting ground zero than getting tb from this guy. thanx, bill

Pointless and typ cavilling on probabilities You don't know
Fuck-all about: and Neither Did He, which IS *The Point*.
When this self-indulgent narcissist left.. none of the subsequent (that means'Later', Box) tests were concluded. That is, he left Before -- he was found to be a merely ordinarily-infectious wanker-full-of-TB sputum ready to be spread.
Your pissant 'defense' nothwithstanding -- his was indefensible behavior, THEN - exactly parallel to that of Typhoid Mary\ufffd (except that she persisted at being a nanny/cook IIRC, long after her condition had finally been confirmed.)
He's just another GWBush-type stubborn clueless motherfucker who 'stayed the course' of mindless ego.
Hmmm, kinda like the [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoon| Hoon]ing of the perpetually impatient?

Tried and convicted
in your court of public opinion.
And he deserves it, right? Even though tests concluded later show box to be more accurate than you would like?

Re: Tried and convicted - yes you are,
of intentional obtuseness, (not all that surprising in dedicated artisans of straw.) I guess you can't help living under the daily thrall of the illusionary free-market in-all-things. Competent people told him he was probably infectious, and carrying a strain that was extremely drug-resistant. That was the professionally perceived status THEN. THEN He ignored them. That: subsequently, after there was time to perform, refine the tests -- it turned out he was indeed 'infectious' -- only now, the probablility of any victims' recovery (whether or not there Are any victims that turn up) -- is "better" than could have been known, when he took off Is quite beside the point. He/they were lucky. That's all. Maybe lucky, that is: Whether he + they remain 'lucky' will [link|http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/lung/tuberculosis.html| depend on] The incubation period (the time it takes for a person to become infected after being exposed) varies from weeks to years, depending on the individual and whether the infection is primary, progressive, or reactivation TB. Your capacity for confusing innate solipsism with some bizarre "libertarian ideology" remains a strange affliction -- perhaps coal dust in the lungs, in the formative years?
ie. If he/they escape any legally-provable causality for victims of his idiocy -?- he remains an ass in perpetuity. And especially - while waiting for those Results. If he'd coughed near any of your kids ... tell me all about his Liberties.

this reminds me of that poor child infected with aids
that they wouldnt allow him to attend school for fear of infecting other kids. Ashton's post that he may not be infectious for years yet still wonders if you would let him breath on your kids. Sad really, he should be old enough to remember a local lunger or two. It never was that big of a deal. thanx, bill

want to try again?
[link|http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/story?id=3231184|http://abcnews.go.co.../story?id=3231184] "Speaker's father-in-law, Bob Cooksey, is a CDC microbiologist specializing in the spread of TB and other bacteria. He said only that he gave Speaker "fatherly advice" when he learned the young man had contracted the disease. Everyone knew. \ufffd The CDC knew, doctors knew, Kaiser knew. They said, 'We would prefer you not go on the trip,'" he said. "And that's when my father said, 'OK, are you saying because he's a risk to anybody or are you simply saying it to cover yourself?' And they said, 'We have to tell you that to cover ourselves, but he's not a risk.'" when the potential fil whose job is a TB researcher for the CDC tells you not to worry, what appears to be the problem? thanx, bill

Re: want to try again?
That information seems to raise his nastiness-level from that of, consummate ass to, merely a person willing to gamble that "the odds are with him + all others". As to whether he + they got away with the odds [??? unKnowable for an apparently extended period] --
See above.
