They're both dumbasses.
The defendant for posting an auction for a picture only and the plaintiff for falling for it. I would have thought Judge Judy would have spotted that.

The "Judge" too.
Asked the defendant "Where exactly in your ad does it say 'photo only'?" early on, and never let her answer. When the dumb-ass defendant had found it and tried to point it out, the dumb-ass "judge"[*] kept telling her to shut up. Hey, dumbass, you ASKED for this yourself, only minutes ago!
So she's HARDLY "smarter in one finger than you'll ever be even if you live to be a hundred and twenty / a hundred and fifty[+]" -- they were ALL FOUR of them equally fucking stupid.
The smartest person in the room was OBVIOUSLY the bailiff. Or, OK, perhaps one of the camera men. (The audience? Come on, THINK for a second!)
[*]: Is she really one? (An ex-one at the most, I hope -- AT LEAST not practicing in REAL courts at the same time as she performs in this travesty.)
[+]: She got it mixed up; couldn't remember what she'd said HERSELF from one minute to the next.

Yes, it probably did say "photo only". But it also said it was 4.9 ounces, which is what she basically focused on. So I think the scammer didn't even pull the scam right, so she's dishonest and stupid. Gee, what're the odds?
On the plus side, I'm glad that she slammed her anyway. Even if it did say "photo only" it was clearly an attempt to defraud. Good for Judy for making an example of her.
On then negative side, I thought attacking the husband was out of line, as was telling her to get a job and do something more useful than making babies. I think running an ongoing criminal enterprise -- arguable, but you can take the position -- could maybe get you in trouble with the child welfare people. But she went way over the line.

Yeah, the bit about the husband "sent you here" -- while it *could* well be true, and even if it *probably* was -- nice going PRESUMING that the man is calling the shots in the marriage to that extent, Judge-LADY.
The *whole fucking thing*, as I said to Wade, can only be summed-up as "Sheesh!".

Its called fraud and it is illegal.
The judge (and in non Judy cases the jury) can and likely would, in this case, determine that the intent was to defraud and that the act of acception over $400 for 2 pictures would corroborate that intent.
What they did was illegal and I agree with the outcome.

Nothing the Judge said wasn't true.
Whether it was appropriate or not, I dunno. It's telly; legally binding telly, but telly all the same.
The right conclusion was reached.
Interesting that the defendant apparently didn't see anything wrong in what she was doing.
