Earlier today the senator had been on a telephone call with reporters when he became disoriented and began stuttering in response to a question, the Associated Press reported. He seemed to recover, asking if there were any additional questions before ending the call.


It depends on the severity of the stroke, of course, but politicians can continue to serve after a stroke. My [link|http://www.toddy.org/about|state senator] had one years ago and still has obvious weakness on her left side. (I saw her in my grocery store recently.) [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Reid|Harry Reid] suffered one in 2005.
